@pepe it’s very likely the carbomer is breaking down due to the electrolytes on your hand. Was your hand sweaty? Have you tried washing your hands, drying it and try picking up the product again? It shouldn’t happen if you use a plastic spatula.

@@jemolian This is what I thought actually, my hands are always sweaty. It doesn’t happen when my hands are clean and dry as you said. We can not recommend customers to use this cream just after washing and drying your hands or pick it up with a spoon or smthng like that ::smile:

Is there any recommendation to overcome this problem permanently?
Using Ultrez 20 or 21 which have high tolerance of electrolyte can be useful?

    Regards,

Does the emulsion break down when you pick it up with your hand/finger?

    Hello Kirk.

We cant say break down but it glides like melting butter on the hand.

Agree - what exactly do you want to fix? What do you mean when you say it “feels harder while shampooing…”?

But just eyeballing your formula, you should remove the Glycerin, Cocamide DEA, Cetrimonium Chloride, Titanium Dioxide, and Vitamin E. Then reduce Polyquaternium 7 to 1%.  Then see what you get.

Generally, you shouldn’t mix cationic surfactants with anionic surfactants.

    Hey Perry,

Why did you recommend to remove Glycerin in the shampoo formula? I am really wondering. I see the point for the rest.

D5 or low viscous dimethicones (1cs, 2cs, 5cs) will eliminate the soaping effect. You can try starches in order to get that silky, cushiony feel.

Phenoxyethanol in the PE9010 could be the reason.

You can introduce dimethicone just inside SLES itself and stir slowly. Then after you can add this mixture into the main vessel. The final viscosity is very important at least you need to get 5000-10000cp

    @Lisani
You can try cetrimonium bromide if you want to penetrate into cortex.
Also as perry advice coconut oil is one of the natural oil that can penetrate into.

But if you are seeking damage repair and some conditioning you’ve better try low particle size hyrdolyzed keratins like Nutrilan Keratin(BASF)

    Dear Chris,please try polyquaternium-10.
0,5% would be enough I think. Introduce it to the water phase while stirring and start heating. It will swell when you reach 45-50C.
I hope this will provide the texture you are looking for.

You can reduce the final temperature of the product just before the pouring.
And you should provide uniform and even cooling environment for the product? Try refrigerator…

You can use cocamide dea+pq10 combination to get cyrstal clear shower gel. why are u insisting on such those polymers if you do not have any particles in your formulation you have to suspend?

You can have a try with polyquaternium-10 or guar hydroxypropyltrimonium chloride for conditioning. They are not completely the replacements for behentrimonium chloride but satisfactory.

October 31, 2016 at 1:06 pm in reply to: A Cream without any Emulsifiers? Is it possible?

    Yes @johnb you are right PEHG:Iscaguard PEHG…

By the way the process is like:

    - Add aluminum stearate into the mineral oil while stirring fast. Heat until the aluminum stearate become gel(approx. 85-90 C). Leave it for 24 h for maturing in room temperature.

    - Parafin wax+petrolatum+beeswax+eutanol g+span 83. Heat the oil phase components until the temperature reaches 90 C.

    - Under a high shear at 90 C add aluminum stearate gel into the oil phase slowly.

    - Heat up the water to 90 C and add onto the oil phase.

    - At 65 C add zinc oxide slowly right into the vortex.

    - Homogenise a little bit.

    - At 40-45 C add parfum and preservative.

    - At 40 C pour the emulsion into small aluminum jar.

The problem is; the final product is extremely hard to pick up. Is there any problem with the process? or should I play with the numbers?

Sorry for my English :) Thank you so much
