Maybe you can go with the most traditional, Glyceryl Stearate (and) PEG 100 Stearate. Not sure how well it will do as I’ve not tested making a conditioner with that yet.

    Depends on the reason.

Since the ingredients list is relatively simple, the replication shouldn’t be that hard if you get to test out the product and have sufficient experience with each ingredient / blend to make an educated guess.

You can make a preserved version if required. The biomimetic probably refers to the function that the emulsifier blend has, mainly the “biomimic the lipid bilayer of cellular membrane” from a blend like Montanov 68 (INCI: CETEARYL ALCOHOL (and) CETEARYL GLUCOSIDE) https://www.seppic.com/en/montanov-68mb

As graillotion mentioned, i’d also recommend starting with 2%. It’s best to have it in a leave on formula. Not much point in rinsing it off and wasting money.

Remember to patch test. I found out i was allergic to that.

It can depend on a few factors and your requirements, the combination doesn’t need to be too difficult.

    For example:

    • Genagen 3sb blend + thickener + Cetiol 767 (optional)
    • sodium cocoyl glutamate + cocamidopropyl betaine + thickener
    • Plantapon SF + thickener (depending on viscosity requirements)

For my cleanser, it’s a mix of Sodium Lauroyl Glutamate & Disodium Cocoamphodiacetate in a foam bottle. I didn’t make it into a gel. ASM around 5%.

Maybe it’s me, but i think the first part should remain the same and keep the last part as the varying factor.

Will this be similar to the “For me by me” concept from Axis-y? But would be “from us for you” instead? ????

Will you conduct a survey or poll for each functional category?

Maybe you can use a solubilizer with a suitable polymer like sepimax zen if the percentage is low. If not just use a normal emulsifier if it’s really 5%.

I think a more affordable source would be on the site here, you can take a look at Perry’s courses or info available. https://chemistscorner.com/products/

You can also get some ideas for beginner workshops from IPCS’s workshop or course work

    https://personalcarescience.com.au/CosmeticScience/BeginnersCosmeticScienceWorkshops-469/

IPCS provides an ingredient pack for their students, so can you work with the repackers to get a suitable ingredients pack for your workshop as well.

It’s 15ml, so the price looks about reasonable for the ingredients.

I don’t think i saw them revealing the percentages of ingredients for this serum compared to their matrixyl one, so it’s possible that they didn’t have much of them in there.

It depends on what type of combination you want. You can consider what graillotion has mentioned to add an additional anionic co-emulsifier and/or you can choose a fatty alcohol, and the polymer you prefer, depending on stability and skin feel / texture. For the polymer, you can also choose carbomer or other similar ones.

For the combination, it also depends on the cost and what kind of convenience you want. Since the viscolam 100 is a polymeric emulsifier blend, you can choose to use 165 + fatty alcohol + viscolam. If you prefer better flexibility, you can choose the 165 + co-emulsifier +/ fatty alcohol + polymer.

You can just go with 165 + some fatty alcohol + carbomer. This combination should be standard enough unless you are looking for some specific requirement or effect.

    • Resveratrol might be easy to oxidize, so it really depends if you want to add to this formula as it depends on the batch you want to make.
    • Niacinamide / 3-Glyceryl Ascorbate / Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate - The pH might not be in the compatible range. You might want to also just use 1 of the vit c.
    • 72 Hour Moisture & Glycan Booster Peptide - It might affect the viscosity of the Gel Maker EMU, so it’s something to consider as they seem to contain electrolytes.
    • You might want to add an emulsifier blend.
  • You’ll have to use a more electrolyte resistant polymer or rework the thickening by other ingredients.

If not you can use other derivatives like ethyl ascorbic acid.

I went for a company sponsored chatgpt training for marketing purposes. I find that it takes quite some refinements in my requirements to get the job done. I tested by asking for a skincare routine, it still took about more than 10 to 20+ times of refinement to get to what expect it to be.

It can probably help with the normal procedural or operational stuff but things that need specific requirements, its information would be limited, so we will need to know its limitations.

Not a cosmetic chemist, but i was curious about its effects since i had it for some time, so i tested it at 0.1%, i find that it provides a soothing and slight exfoliating effect.

I did my diploma with IPCS as a hobby. If possible, try to think outside of what they teach, kind of a school vs industry reality. What they teach can varies a lot from what is being done professionally because of the available equipment or formulations, it’s not like we can’t evolve from that. People will need to realize that their structured formulations isn’t the industry “bible”.

Their mentors have to follow their guidelines so they can be slightly ridged in their answer. For my assessment, sometimes even though i have another answer, i still try to follow the answer because of the guidelines, sometimes i try to add the screenshot proof for certain ingredients, if not i will have to redo the formulation for resubmission.

  • I do have symglucan, but i’ve only tested it at a lower percentage because it has glycerin, but it should feel that significant if you find a version that is either the powder form or uses other preservation systems like butylene glycol. I’ve not tested with the 2 versions yet since it’s not really my priority but I think the film formed should be that obvious if the percentage is not that high.

For example, for symglucan, it’s a 1% oat beta glucan solution, the use rate is up to 10%, so it’s only 0.1% active. In terms of performance wise, I think it’s slightly hard to observe because of the glycerin.

I think it should be ok. As long as you have a voting system that can do a step by step voting if not all the manual compiling can be slightly tedious depending on how long the list of ingredients are. Maybe you can use a google or microsoft form / sheet.

You can take a look at the blend, specs, or SDS if they mention any ingredients that include sodium, magnesium, etc. So MAP, it won’t work out.

You can take a look at Graillotion’s url that he provided. If based on the pH range mentioned in the post, you can consider the Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate, if you prefer a water soluble one, you can perhaps consider Ethyl Ascorbic Acid.

Definitely, critical thinking of what has been taught is very important. I think the mentor you have been assigned is more flexible than mine but i’ve always assumed that since it’s a course then i should stick to the guidelines to get the grades that i need, lol.
