I think the MILK one uses Agar. But you could do oil and a carbomer too

I’d be interested how you get peptides into wax as well. Or an anhydrous product.

Full % and Methods would help. Triethanolamine is used in pretty low concentrations- is it solubolizing the salicylic acid at 2% PG would work with a bit of alcohol. SA should also bring the pH down..maybe try some citric acid?

Dry skin is happier with triglycerides and ceramides than a humectant.

Why don’t you try a powder surfactant? It will probably work better.

Sorry I have no idea where I read that. I worked with peels a lot in a past life and that is still ringing around in my head. But chemical peels do not sizzle away forever.

Most providers just leave it on. It’s fresh for a few minutes. And yes every 4 to 6 weeks.

  • The silica is drying. Maybe some emollients can be added, like triglycerides.

right? That is my biggest worry. I’m not sure how there have not been more recalls on these kinds of products

Look at marketed products from major brands.  Wouldn’t put much confidence in Glyceryl caprylate. “caprate”
Will formula, package, implement and anticipated use bring water/Aw into consideration?
    Consider parabens

Thanks. Paraben would be my choice too but the no no list is loooong. So I’m thinking anhydrous will be safest

Hi Maybe look up ingredients of some of the nice brands like Clarins? I recently got a sample and it doesn’t irritate my eyes - I hadn’t used any for years because of that reason - This is their volume one - Supra Volume Mascara | CLARINS®
AQUA/WATER/EAU, SYNTHETIC BEESWAX, PARAFFIN, ACACIA SENEGAL GUM, BUTYLENE GLYCOL, GLYCERYL STEARATE, STEARIC ACID, PALMITIC ACID, GLYCERIN, VP/EICOSENE COPOLYMER, VP/HEXADECENE COPOLYMER, COPERNICIA CERIFERA CERA/COPERNICIA CERIFERA (CARNAUBA) WAX/CIRE DE CARNAUBA, AMINOMETHYL PROPANEDIOL, ORYZA SATIVA (RICE) BRAN WAX, PANTHENOL, ACACIA FARNESIANA FLOWER WAX, DIMETHICONE, PHENETHYL ALCOHOL, OCTYLDODECANOL, ETHYLHEXYLGLYCERIN, SPHINGANINE, HYDROXYETHYLCELLULOSE, CELLULOSE, PVP, PHENOXYETHANOL, DISODIUM PHOSPHATE, POLYSORBATE 60, SODIUM PHOSPHATE, BIOTINOYL TRIPEPTIDE-1

    Another of there’s is
AQUA/WATER/EAU. CI 77499/IRON OXIDES. SYNTHETIC BEESWAX. ACRYLATES/ETHYLHEXYL ACRYLATE COPOLYMER. PARAFFIN. GLYCERYL STEARATE. STEARIC ACID. COPERNICIA CERIFERA CERA/COPERNICIA CERIFERA (CARNAUBA) WAX/CIRE DE CARNAUBA. ORYZA SATIVA (RICE) BRAN WAX. PVP. AMINOMETHYL PROPANEDIOL. BUTYLENE GLYCOL. SORBITAN SESQUIOLEATE. PHENOXYETHANOL. CERA MICROCRISTALLINA/MICROCRYSTALLINE WAX/CIRE MICROCRISTALLINE. HYDROXYETHYLCELLULOSE. PANTHENOL. ROSA CENTIFOLIA FLOWER WAX. ROSA DAMASCENA FLOWER WAX. SUCROSE STEARATE. SPHINGANINE. DIMETHICONE. CAPRYLYL GLYCOL. ASCORBYL PALMITATE. TOCOPHEROL. LAURETH-21. POTASSIUM SORBATE. SYNTHETIC WAX. SODIUM STEARATE. HEXYLENE GLYCOL [MS3211A/00]

Hope this helps - sorry I haven’t made any before as too messy for me. I guess main issue is the wand/brush applying to your eye lashes and contamination.

Thank you. These also have phenoxyethenol so probably better preserved

I use Polyacrylate Crosspolymer-6 and it works perfectly and stays clear.

  • I feel like once you’ve seen “behind the curtain” we don’t use that much. I’ll make stuff to try a new material and use it once and then move on. I’m not that consistent.

It neutralizes pretty fast. They may even start to see salt fro sal acid on skin. I’ve read sal acid will neutralize in about 2 minutes on skin. It’s very common to just leave it on. Some peeling may occur about 3-5 days after

You’re so right! Win some loose some with clients eating up time. I’ve framed the samples for an existing formula (just wanting to manufacture) as not including specialty ingredients, I will specify when I see the formulas. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for this! Since we are small we get some hobbyists expecting us to just produce their kitchen creation. I’ll set up some hourly rates and minimums 👍🏻
