EntrepreneurJuly 25, 2022 at 12:13 am in reply to: pH of cationic emulsion for skin. Above or below it’s isoelectric point which is 4.8I don’t have explanation for it. A chemist here told me to do so, i did and got the results. I don’t remember it correctly but i think it didn’t work in anionic emulsion.

@PhilGeisis benzyl alcohol anti bacterial or anti fungal?

I’d not get carried - no standard deviation in this or Fig 1.It says This page does not exist.

Only advantage of sa is you can use small amount to reduce pH too.

Is this photo from a book? -
Mikrokill COS will be good at pH ≤5. At pH 7 look for PhilGeis suggestion.

EntrepreneurJuly 23, 2022 at 9:43 am in reply to: pH of cationic emulsion for skin. Above or below it’s isoelectric point which is 4.8I forgot. I used NACL too in cationic emulsion. It pased three months puting bottle in window, hot in day and colder at night stability test and pased 3 cycle freeze Thaw cycle. I think this product is very much stable. maybe the combination makes it stable.

EntrepreneurJuly 23, 2022 at 9:33 am in reply to: Is the salysalic acid easy dissolved in liquid soap?It was just an experiment to see what happens ????. I was not going to use or sell that product.
I love doing experiments and as I usually purchase ingredients in bulk, I don’t have problem doing a lot of experiments so i mix whatever ingredients i have in different ways that comes to my mind just to see what happens. Some times i get pretty good results but most of the time i learn what i should not do.

You need an antifungal too.

EntrepreneurJuly 23, 2022 at 7:39 am in reply to: Is there problem with my lactic acid or the information about SPDMA neutralization from supplier?@chemicalmatt thanks
For me 1% SPDMA needed 5% lactic acid that supplier said is 80%. That is very big difference.
Does it mean this lactic acid is not really 80% and supplier is lying?
Supplier is a wholesaler, not manufacturer and i purchase salicylic acid & citric acid from them too. They have good quality.
Is there any way to check if this lactic solution really has 80% lactic acid or not?

I use only 0.5% cationic surfactant+ fatty alcohol in emulsion.
People who has used these cationic emulsions all liked it more than emulsions with these anionic & non-ionic surfactants (GMS, sodium stearoyl lactylate, polyglyceryl-4 laurate) stabilized with xanthan gum. Do you think 0.5% BTMS or BTMC will cause irritation? For me cationic emulsion has a lot of advantages and most importantly somehow the final product costs less than emulsion with very inexpensive anionic & non-ionic emulsifiers mentioned above.

If the profit margin is too low, you will not make enough profit to make you motivated enough to sell more.

EntrepreneurJuly 20, 2022 at 3:19 pm in reply to: Is there problem with my lactic acid or the information about SPDMA neutralization from supplier?@ketchito i use 80% lactic acid solution that has 80% lactic acid solids & 20% water. By solid i mean actual lactic acid.
Do you also need 4.5% lactic acid 88% solution to neutralize 1% SPDMA to pH 4-4.5?

What percentage and ratio have you tried?

EntrepreneurJuly 20, 2022 at 1:56 am in reply to: Composition of acid mantle and how is it madeA chemist here once told me that skin and hair doesn’t have pH. The have isoelectric point.
Skin isoelectric point is ~4.8
Hair isoelectric point is ~3.6These papers all say skin pH is this and that.
Maybe i haven’t understood it correctly so i am asking it once again.
does skin have pH?

Does 10 ppm formaldehyde do any benefit if combined with phenoxyethanol in emulsion or CMI MI in cleansing product or this amount is useless as preservative?

Parabens./EDTA alone is not - but good addition to chloromethyl isothiazolinone that is excellent vs bacteria, esp. Gram negatives. Thanks a lot
