Just for drying purpose I added 5 % (glycerin/MPG) then it gives better conditioning effect for hair and no drying effect however the bad surprise in such level foam decrease a lot.So i’am thinking to make tests with different level of (glycerin/MPG) to decrease drying effect and preserve acceptable foam
Any interpretations, comments, suggestions ?@ketchito @Paprik @Abdullah @Perry @ngarayeva001
I don’t think glycerin will remove the type of drying that CAPB and APG is causing.
Maybe that effect is from pq10 -

DMDM hydantoin or CMI MI+ sodium benzoate.
-
Sodium benzoate is not enough as preservative

Where did you read this?
I don’t remember that.
Also, adding phenoxyethanol before emulsion is made can make the emulsion less stable.
I am currently using phenoxyethanol in leave on emulsion and other products.

Phenoxyethanol solubility in water is more than 2%. So 1% can dissolve in water easily at any stage.
I would prefer adding it at cool down phase because it is volatile and some of will evaporate in high temperature, if added too early at product specially in large batches. -

They are not converting it to a saponified soap. The product brings a “soft” feel, emolliency, and lubricity to the syndet bar.We used this in a reformulation of a major brand syndet as it was in the legacy formulation. Thanks
Does it matter what Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil we use or anyone will have the same effect?
Is soft feel & lubricity the only effect of Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil or it has any effect on foam, viscosity and detergency too?

pH is also 5-6.5
Doea 15% soap at pH ≤7 make any sense?

Use cold processable pearl.

1. Some complications with formaldehyde or CMI MI preservative.
2. I thought you are talking about shampoo. I don’t know much about perfume.
3. It doesn’t feel good on hair. -
1. Ot may not have any problem but I won’t use it.
2. Do you mean in shampoo?
No, cationic guar may be better option3. Yes it will be effective but not recommended.

If you want it to be water thin, don’t use fatty alcohol and coconut oil at all.
-
It os called Plantaren APB by BASF
-
Have you used this product?
Did it work better as a leave in or rinse of conditioner?
-
What is your batch size that you make and what is your high shear mixer?
The problem is you are not dissolving that 1% guar gum solution properly. Don’t make 1% first.
The batch that has separated, heat it to 40°c and mix it with high shear mixer. The problem will be solved.

Use dimethicone 5cst for soaping.

MemberSeptember 15, 2022 at 6:15 pm in reply to: What has been your most challenging formulation problem? My most challenging formula was when i wanted to make a shampoo that is better than all competitors in my market. I thought the first step should be to stay away from sulfates so i started sulfate free. I tried using surfactants that on internet they were the most popular as mildest or best foam or best cleaning. I spent more than a year or even two to make such product. The problem was when i gave it and a simple with 7% SLES+ 3% CAPB to anyone for a blind test and then asked them which one did they like for not drying the skin or scalp or better cleaning or foam and they always choosed the sulfate one. And i was like what?????
How is sulfate milder than the mildest surfactants from internet or benchmarks on internet?
How is sulfate cleaning better than surfactant that is theoretically claimed to have stronger cleansing power than sulfate?
How does sulfate foam better than those surfactants that are claimed to have better or at least the same foam as sulfates?
How no body likes sulfate free over sulfate when on internet everyone says i want sulfate free? And the problem was solved when i decided to use some sulfates in any type of cleansing product no matter what or for who it is.
