How does CAPB provide hair conditioning in Shampoo with SLES @ pH 5

In this shampoo for example

7.5% SLES active
2.5% CAPB active

Water

pH 5

How does CAPB contribute in hair conditioning?

Does it only reduce the negative charge of hair or it has any other conditioning benefit too?

Answer: not much. CAPB contributes negative conditioning to hair by itself, but it does help to form coacervates with conditioning quats that do condition hair. Polyquaternium-7 comes to mind.
