How to increase slip in conditioner
Hello,
i formulated this for my personal use, I have ethnic (African) hair but it doesn’t have enough slip and didn’t detangle as much as I would like. Kindly help suggest what to add.glycerin -2%
centrimonium chloride - 2%
keratin protein 2%
avocado oil 1%
cetyl alcohol 3%
E wax 1.5% (cetearyl alcohol and ceteareth 20)
behentrimonium chloride 2%
willow bark extract 0.1%
fragrance 0.5%
preservative 1%

Is that a leave-on ( leave-in ) or rinse-off conditioner?
If it’s rinse-off, I don’t think glycerin, keratin or avocado oil will do much in the short time it’s left on hair, so you can remove them or lower them to claim-ingredients levels.
There’s a study by Ajinomoto that says that most proteins and aminoacids are worthless even in leave-on products, unless the pH is really low.
Only Arginine has acceptable deposition at practical pH levels.You can add BTMS-50 + dimethicone, a water-dispersible silicone, or Amodimethicone blends. This will probably be the easiest and best method.
You can also add some Polyquaterniums and other cationics, but IDK if they’d condition any more than Behentrimonium/Cetrimonium already do.

Also a silicone like Dimethicone or Cyclomethicone could help.

thank you, I do have btms 25 and a Natural silicone alternative lexfeel N100 will try it out.

The pH is around 4.5, it’s a rinse off conditioner.
