Our Pomades here in my country used Kaolin. Kaolin clays are much better.

As long as water is present, add a preservative.

What happens to the carbs (if anything) during hydrolysis?”

They are broken down into sugars.

We have liquid matte lipsticks too but we never encountered that problem when we put it in the tube.

Did you put it in the tube while it’s hot? As in almost like boiling hot?

Try Na Lactate. I have it on my toner and lower my pH using citric acid.

If you’re just using retinol for marketing purposes, 0.2-0.5% is enough. If not, you can use it up to 1% only.

Use a high shear mixer. Try adding more emulsifiers and lessen the % of the water.

Experiment on it. If the finish product is not enough for you, you can add more and subtract the % of water.

Hmm. Based from what I learned during college, Imidazole (Climbazole is an imidazole) solutions should be stored in a glass and away from light. Amber glass jars/bottles will work also. Hopefully my memory serves me right (even though I just finished college last year).

Well it depends on how much you put baking soda (I’m assuming you dissolve it in water)

Here’s a rundown on my cream:

    A.Water-qs
    Glycerin-3
    Propylene Glycol-2
    TEA-1

    B.Cetyl Alcohol-1
    Cremophor A6-1
    Cremophor A25-2
    Glyceryl Stearate&PEG-100 Stearate-3
    Tegosoft DEC-6
    Amphisol K-1.5

    C. TSF 405-10
    Dimethicone-2
    SFE 839-5
    Suncat DE-1.5
    BTD 401-1
    Silica -2

    D. Polymethylsilsesquioxane-5
    Multisal Sebum Control-1
    Arbutin-0.2
    Niacinamide-0.5
    Euxyl PE-0.3
    Vit. E-1
    Color-0.3
    Fragrance-0.2

I just made one now and no matter how long I mix/stir it, it is not that thick (still flows … a little). The one I made last thursday (the same formula) is now thick with a very very minimal flow like you have to wait to see it flow.

@Bill_Toge As far as i know, polysorbates are sticky. I’m just using a solubilizer to clear my mixture cause it gets cloudy once I mixed phase B to A.

Update: Removed Betaine and Multifruits BSC. Still sticky.

@Bill_Toge I only have here PEG-7 Glyceryl Cocoate, Polyglyceryl-3 Caprylate/Caprate/Succinate and Propylene Glycol, PEG-40 HCO and Polysorbate 60.

One of my benchmarks has PEG-40 HCO but it doesnt feel sticky.

Put TEA the same as the % of your carbomer. And then add a preservative.
