I’ve looked into THDA in powdered form and it’s fake. I too was trying to save a few hundred dollars by searching for the cheapest alternative, but this compound is not found in powdered form, the chemistry is not there. Do yourself a favor and get the real deal from NIKKO in Japan. They are the pioneers of it. THDA is very difficult to make, many make it with toxic organic solvents. Nikko seems to have cracked the process as it has no smell and is pretty “clean”. it runs about 700 to 800/kg

@Pharma never thought of that one. I searched for them but only came up with the peanut form. Are the chips dense? Will they melt at 75c?

@pharma spoke with Alchemy in the UK and they have discontinued HIPE Aqua (stability issues). She highly recommended Sucramulse Pro in combo with Clearthix S.

She ask, as testing point use this formula, below, it’s a cold process that uses cetyl alcohol as well. Will Cetyl alcohol go into solution in this protocol? Apparently it does from what they say. Any takes?

@Pharma that is interesting. do you know who resells hipe? Alchemy must have 20kg moq. Any long term stability issues since i see in their sample formulations there is no fatty alcohols.

@ngarayeva001 Will be trying HIPE aqua, if you have any tips that would be appreciated.

@Pharma thanks , blends as in Tego care ltp (Sorbitan laurate, polyglyceryl-4 laurate, dilauryl citrate) added with a co-emulsifier?

Never tried w/o Hipe, not sure i know what that is.

@EVchem could we counter not using synthetic thickener with using synthetics like pentylene glycol, or esters, at least for skin feel

what is your method when going through your protocol? Say when using %w/w and you have to heat and weigh your liquids and solids? do you weigh all your liquids first on a scale then place on a hotplate then add your solids?

If so, how about if the protocol calls for a strict sequence where you can’t add all liquids at once? Do you then add all ingredients in your vessel then heat and stir?

@Agata @Perry the addition of Dehydroacetic Acid, which is a strong low toxicity preservative will further help her formula. She’s using leucidal and aspen bark which are nontoxic preservatives that have gone through extensive challenge tests and work. We’ve used them and in combination are robust.

So using low percent extracts or high would be viable with the above trio or duo preservatives.

@perry is that drunk elephant interview in pdf somewhere? Shieshido (sp) drunk elephants new owner is not a promoter of nontoxic ingredients. So not surprised by her flipping. Yes, nontoxic products exist so the notion of saying clean is out is ridiculous.

If the yields of Barley are 30%, a barley extract juice solution centrifuged will mainly remove floating debris. The proteins and nutrients, I don’t think, could be concentrated further without using organic solvents that are deemed toxic, like acetone.

So my guess is that they are not macerating then precipitating proteins/nutrients. So it brings us back to the final output being ~30% and have that at the number 1 spot on the list.

aqua/water/eau is a common way of stating water for different countries.

Back to Barley extraction methods, filtered nor pasteurization would increase the concentration. Unless there’s slow heating and evaporation of the water that will bring up the extract concentration. And if it’s glycerin they are using as the solvent, not sure how that is reduced.

SOD actually works on the skin from the peer reviewed papers I’ve read. For long term storage in -20, water alone is not stable enough.

@Gustavo when you say 25% of all oil phase, are you saying all ingredients used in the oil phase or just the oils used?  

we are using:

olivem 1000
squalene
isoamyl laurate
dermasoft gmcy
tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate

when calculating this

would the oil percent be just squalend and isoamy laurate? since the others are emulsifiers/wetting agents.

and when calculating the percent of emulsifiers do we do:

olivem 1000 / squalene + isoamyl laurate + olivem 1000 ??

Koreans have been doing this for decades, all is fine. Never heard of a class action or lawsuit because of a ferment or bacterial extract on the skin, but i see your concern.

well there is evidence on Thermus Thermophilus strain also there is evidence a multitude of fermented ingredients that work well on the skin.  Sederma, ground breaking scientific skin care company, has lots of research on Thermus Thermophilus among a lot of other peer research papers which I don’t include here but are easily googlable.

The prices of peptides are volatile, at the moment. Yes, I do agree that a few years ago peptides would have been very expensive to make, but as technology progressed materials or protocols in making peptides had decreased but prices haven’t stabilized or don’t reflect those technology changes.

I could tell cause peptide XYZ is 90 in one company, 250 in another and 175 in another.

What company would you recommend to get solid state (powder) peptides?  I prefer not to get liquid form cause the supplier deems the concentration of the peptide in its glycerol mixture a secret, so you can’t really gauge how much actual peptide you have
