Thanks belassi, but i cant afford the try, the company is offering me a Drum of 210kg no less.
-
Thanks @makingskincare and @perry, im trying to make a hair conditioner with contains:
Stearic acidCetyl alcoholliquid parafinlaurdimonium clhoridepolyquad 7waterPropyleneglycolglycerinCan the ceteareth 20 be used to make an emulsion of that? -
@belassi @perry, im trying to make a formula like the one that both of you mentioned, but i dont have “cetearly alcohol”, can i use stearic acid instead?, i dont have any emulsifier compatible with Centrimonium bromide or Polyquads available.
-
@sattar does the dimetyl amine oxide can be used as viscosity builder?, i mean, i run out of DEA and betaine, can i use de amine oxide instead?, how much salt i must use?. Im ussing SLS/SLES as main surfactan
-
Thanks @Belassi, i Just found Quaternium 7 and added 1% to my formula, i cant find any emulsifier yet, can i use the neutralization of stearic acid and TEA ór NaOH as emulsifier?, can you help me with the concentrations of both.
-
@pma thanks, just adjusted the ph to 8.5, but it only makes normal foam when rubbed, it feels like a solid soap or a liquid soap, im looking for a dense and creamy foam.
-
Just saw that the product I’m looking for is called “post-shaving gel”, there’s a lot of patents on the Internet, but I just got confused, some of them didn’t use sles, some uses liquid paraffin and diols but I can’t figure out why.
-
Thanks Perry, Gillette sells a shaving gel, that makes a lot of foam and it’s translucent, is there a difference of foam when I neutralize the stearic with tea or NaOH?.
@pma thanks, but Im not looking for a hard soap, I’m looking for a gel.
Can anyone suggest me a concentration of stearic and TEA to get a gel consistency.
-
Thanks Kirk, i just bought Guar gum, and going to try tomorrow.
Btw its cocoamide DEA neccesary in my formulation?, i mean im ussing it thinking that its going to help in flash foam generation, but im not ussing it as thickener. -
Thanks
, my problem is that i dont have another thickener available that suits with SLES.
-
Thanks belassi, there arent suppliers of cosmetic ingredients in my country, im doing the best i can, so im ussing carbomer as emulsifier or Neutralized stearic acid, i have read that i can make my own glyceryl stearate with stearic acid and vinegar but i dont know if it going to work.
Forgive my ignorance, but what do you mean with lips?, you dont have any quad on yor formula?. -
Thanks for your help, i cant find cetostearyl alcohol in my country, im ussing carbomer as emulsifier.
Im ussing 2% of laurdimonium clhoride but i cant achive the “untangle” feeling that im looking, i dont know if i can include an oil to help. -
Thanks chemist for your answer, first I must admit that I’m not a chemist and I know almost nothing about cosmetics, I’m trying to make a sodium chloride free shampoo, using mainly sls, i think that I’m using carbopol 940, but I can’t confirm. I’d read some lubrizol formulas that Includes carbopol 940 and sls but I can’t make they get thick. Am I doing something wrong?
Can I use carboximetilcelulose instead hec?, I think that Cmc drops the Foam, and what is hpmc?
-
Thanks for your answer.
Im not willing to use it for cosmetics, im using it ringht now as degreaser for industries, but i want to use it to make dish soaps. The chlorine erase the color or contamination, im getting a orange-bronw color and its ok, and it seams that the smeel is gone too. -

MemberJanuary 20, 2015 at 7:25 pm in reply to: It is possible make a solid Detergent at homeThanks belassi for your help, so im going to eliminate borax from my formula, and going to make coconut oil soap, there arent chemical factors in my city, the 99% of the products that we have in our country is imported, as i told you i cant find most of the raw materials i have seen in this forum, thats why im always trying to innovate or make cosmetics/houshold products with the few raw materials available.

MemberJanuary 19, 2015 at 10:09 pm in reply to: It is possible make a solid Detergent at home@bobzchemist im going to put like 1%-5% of SLES to improve the foam, and i will tell you the results, the current proces includes heating and mixing all.
1)I cant use powdered soap because there is powdered soap shortage in my country.2)Im trying to make at least 20 kilos3) its important because in my contry all the people including my family belives that liquid detergent arent good enough.and the main problem is that its imposible to find most of the raw materials to make almost any medium-good quality toiletries -

MemberJanuary 19, 2015 at 1:22 pm in reply to: It is possible make a solid Detergent at home@wpring I saw your formulation but it seems that Sodium carbonate and Magnesium sulfate in a aqueus solution makes a precipitation reaction forming magnesium carbonate which is not soluble in water.
Im trying with -sodium carbonate -borax - salt, and regular Soap all mixed and granulated, im willing to add sodium triphosphate.@ozgirl @bobzchemist i can add liquid surfactants to my current formulation but i will obtain a pesudo liquid detergent with lumps, and i need a Powder detergent -
I really want to thanks you all, i make the formula given by Iaskedbetter, vitalys and belassi, and all worked i tested they usign the free/thaw proccedure and it seems to be stable.

MemberJanuary 16, 2015 at 9:55 am in reply to: It is possible make a solid Detergent at homeThanks Ozgirl for your help, your link was very helpful, i can find versene, sodium carbonate and metasilicate, but almost all etoxylated alcohols are liquids, so my question is how can i make those liquids to solids since they are 90% water free.
