    Greetings.

    I made a batch of 400 liters of water/isopropyl alcohol 50/50 and added carbopol to increase the viscosity, but I made an error using too much NaOH in order to neutralize the solution but now the solution lose the viscosity , the ph is 10.5-10.7.
    I want to know if I can use citric ácid to get ph 7 and gain the thickness.
    Any suggestions will be helpful

    Probably but I am not sure. The logical thing to do is to take a one litre sample of what you have now, and try bringing it back to pH 7 and see what happens.

    Thanks belassi, i did that with Acetic acid, but nothing happened.

    Bummer. This sounds like a hand sanitiser you are making. I would set aside 10L of it and begin experimenting with 1Kg at a time to see what will work. Since carbomer is low % use I would begin by neutralising with citric acid to pH 7 then add more carbomer and then try re-neutralising with the correct amount of NaOH.

    Try 7 parts of partially neutralized carbopol dispersion with 3 parts of your high pH recipe, check how much the pH comes down. Try it on the lab scale and then proceed further.
