i gave up trying to make a 2&1 shampoo mostly because the no availability of raw materials in my country, and i think that 2&1 has the disadvantage that it comes with no enough mousturizer and conditioners agents for any type of hair, are more expensive and it rinses to fast with water minimizing the time of contact. Behentrimonium chloride and/or centrimonium chloride with pq-7 / pq-10 are given me a good antistatic effect
-
Tweens are surfactants, I think that they are just going to help solubilise oils and maybe help in foam generation, i will bet for adding more pq-10 will help a lot, btw why dont you try to make a conditioner to be used after the wash.

MemberOctober 4, 2015 at 2:49 am in reply to: Simple but effective scale remover and cleanerWhy are you using Xanthan?, using 89% sulphonic gives a very thick solution, BTW sulphonic ácid has a ph of 2-3, and is a very good foam maker by it self, I think you can remove the sls to save money, neutralizing it whit TEA or NaOH would gives u a better foam

MemberSeptember 25, 2015 at 2:08 pm in reply to: PEG 4000 in Lotions, creams and hair conditionerI know that is a too random question, but there are not enought supliers in my country (Venezuela), and basicaly i want to add something new to my current formulations, so i will apreciate if someone can tell me if have used PEG 4000 in any formulation. -
Thanks Bobzchemist , as David says none of those links works in south America, btw i cant log in Ulprospector, can you please email me the PDF Lcuevas@caveschemical.com

Thanks David, can you tell me how did you do to thicken your shampoo with laureth 3, it seems that it has no response to Salt.
Im making test ussing it into a Oil in water emulsions. -
Thanks Microformulation, well im going to make some test as remplacement of Tween80 for emulsion with Glycol stearate, its a shame because i wanted to used it as solubilizer or Thickener.
Btw do you know how to thicken it?. -
Come on Bob.. You used to be nice.
I think that this site isn’t only for experimented cosmetic chemist.
BTW the pearlizer could be killing the foam too. But the main problem is that you are using only 1 surfactant in low percent. -
For that prices I would expect that it make me like 5 years younger.

-
Wow chia oil is kinda expensive here. It would be awesome to have all your ingredients in my country.

@belassi my current hlb is arround 10, because of the Cetyl alcohol(15), do you think that i could use your proportions of twen/stearate?, or do you suggest that i need to raise the % of emulsifiers from my curent 4% to 10%?.@chemist77 I dont have cetostearyl alcohol avaible in my country. -

MemberAugust 6, 2015 at 5:38 pm in reply to: Hairconditioner tween80/glycol stearate emulsionThanks belassi, i just tried making 2 liters of conditioner with a hand mixer in hot process and phases separation occurs just 5 minutes later, and it wasnt thick, taking in consideration that im using 9.5% of waxes. Why are you using 9% of twen/stearate i read that 4% of emulsifiers are enough, im putting twen in water phase and stearate in oil phase, heating both until 80°c and then mixing for about 10min, could the separation be a failure in the process? Are you ussing HLB to determine the % of twen/stearate? -

MemberAugust 6, 2015 at 4:26 pm in reply to: Hairconditioner tween80/glycol stearate emulsionThanks belassi, im changing mineral oil and paraffin, to natural oils and natural waxes, but how do you thicken your conditioner? i just have CMC available, btw i just made my first attempt but i think that its going to separate and its totally liquid.

Or you can dissolve comercial washing powder in glycerin…
-
I think you could use sodium benzoate as well. Just be careful of the ph.
