Is the search feature working? I tried it…and no matter what word I entered….got nothing.

Also…the old site had a feature…where you could look through ‘Your Content’….basically find the threads you started…..does this exist? If so…how do I find that?

That make sense @ketchito if one were making a stick. (And George mentioned that higher melt temp.)

As I am using it in emulsions…. I am trying to determine what value it might bring.

I second that….I use TEC/EHG plus other things….and it is awesome. Granted I use a higher rate of TEC than I am seeing mentioned….and why not….such an awesome emollient.

@chemicalmatt what makes the 90% better suited to deo? Intrigues me….as I of course make deo, which includes GMS! It is an emulsified deo…..was the deo designation more oriented to anhydrous systems?

I didn’t realize George was on a word count retainer. ???? Good to know.

I went to my mailbox…where I had a massive archive of invaluable messages….and the are ALL GONE!

    Will these be reinstated soon?

It is the gold standard….hence the best starting point.

Different humectants work slightly differently at different humidity levels….so you could consider a blend. I like betaine, because it is also a soother. If you want the marketing power of amino acids….consider adding some L-proline.

I also like adding multi-functionals…like propanediol and pentylene glycol….not only will they help moisturise…but they will help boost your preservative.

    Good luck.

It’s been said that using multiple different types of emulsifiers can lead to more stable emulsions. It can also help modify HLB of the whole system.

Both GSC and SSG…are very similar HLB.  Also they were using  Methyl Glucose Sesquistearate…as their primary, so a PEG free system?

IMHO, Dicaprylyl carbonate leaves one of the best ‘after feels’ with zero oily/greasy feel.

Um…..Use Illipe butter.  ;)  (Especially if you can get the stuff from ICSC Denmark.)

I don’t know which way is up….when it comes to hair care.  But as I have been learning the ins-and-outs of  Ceteareth-25 as of late.  I guess it is widely used in the water phase….as a ‘edge gel pomade’, whatever the heck that is.  Apparently a very different result…based on what phase it is used in.

Don’t know if that is helpful….just stuck with me.

With that emulsifier…one could hope for little better than a salad dressing. :) @coco .

If you are set on using it… then use it…but add some real emulsifiers to help it out. :)

@Anca_Formulator it seems like you and I are dead set on using this emulsifier. I’ve read your suggestions also the guidelines working with this emulsifier. I’ve spent so much money and time trying to make it work. Yes the formula has improved as in not destabilizing instantly however the formula remains weak and you can see separation when you look closely. To say that I am sick an tired it’s an understatement! I have been on this since May of last year. Out of all the products I have formulated (and there were some truly challenging ones), this one remain my absolute headache!! I finally reached out to the manufacturer. Truly hope they can help.
The product I am making is a pretty simple one, as it is intended for the most sensitive skin. There is nothing crazy in it. In fact, I have made this multiple times with different emulsifiers without problems. Playing around emulsifiers and co-emulsifiers too much with Heliosoft does end up changing the skin feel of my product which defeat the whole purpose of this product. The product was inspired by Heliosoft, so taking it out or making it co-surfactant is just not working for me. I am going bald!!

Have you tried combining the EO’s with TEC (triethyl citrate) before introducing them?

  • Ah…I was reading their comment on SA! 🙂

  • Wow… 20X more allantoin with betaine.

Guess the real question is….where is the sweet spot with Allantoin?

Thank you….One always hopes they are not losing their mind. 🙂

It almost worked perfectly. It turns out… @chemicalmatt has 44 pages of comments. ????

Which is all fun and good, I was enjoying the reads….until I got to the bottom of… PAGE 1, and when I tried to advance to page 2 (as I had not yet found what I was looking for), the new site will not allow, even with multiple attempts…and trying to trick it. Kept saying…I had gotten lost….404

So, yet to find the gem I am looking for.

@thejoggler is there a way…..say I wanted to read every golden gem from a single contributor….can I search by a persons name…and see every comment that have made on every post? ????

    No, but still helpful.

It actually went into how the two acids are different in category. My chemistry vocabulary is so weak, I cannot give the terms.

Thank You. Hopefully @chemicalmatt will see this on Monday….and reiterate his comments… I am about 97% sure it was he, that extolled on it.

I usually send them a GCMS of their favorite EO…and after they pick their jaw up off the floor….it is really quiet. ????

Well of course….a dead ferment…has ZERO activity. 🙂 (Only the preservatives they used to kill the ferment…have any activity.)

And Yes… Parabens…are what I consider the most natural…as in likely to be found in nature. 🙂 Hello grapefruit and honeysuckle…. That was their whole game.

Any of the ingredients with that….it will try and devour your fragrance. 🙂 If your deo is unscented…I like the idea. If scented…hmmn…not as much.
