@quangphu1301 this is a very high oil content. It would help a lot if you can learn more on the process of aging etc. I’m not a perfumist but I heard there is a process of aging for perfumes, just like the process of fermenting alcoholic beverages to make them taste better over time.

i agree with @Chemist77. Here in our country marketers hyped this product so well every company wanted their own version. the “peeling” concept boomed to include facial gels, body gels, “peeling” deodorant, “peeling” scrub, “peeling” lotion etc. In reality, this is actually all make believe @Shubh123. Unless there is a chemical exfoliator in your gel.

@mrinal try PEG-150 distearate at around 1%. i accidentally produced a semi-solid clear facial wash before using this.

Here in my country we test our raw materials based on parameters indicated in the COA that we can perform in-house, e.g. pH, color, odor, melting point, solubility and microbiological presence. We were not required to test the assay, lead content etc since these are done on the finished products already. Plus these are quite expensive.

if you are looking for PEG-7 glyceryl cocoate that does not cloud in water, try Glycerox HE.

January 4, 2017 at 9:00 am in reply to: When to Micro Test

In my company micro testing before and after filling is a standard step for the first three batches of any product. We send bulk samples in sterilized containers and samples in actual packaging to two different external laboratories, and perform an in-house test simultaneously to confirm results. The remaining bulk product is tightly sealed using plastic films covering the whole mixing kettle. The costs for testing of course is charged to the client. Thankfully we haven’t encountered a contamination before so I wouldn’t know how to deal with whole batches that are to be discarded.

To prevent contamination of bulk products we prepare out processing area meticulously, what with all the cleaning, sanitizing, swabbing of kettles and air sampling.

I’d like to recommend Nusil’s CXG 1101 or CXG 1104 for ultra matte feel. These are my favorite.

if your licorice extract is water soluble, maybe you can request for an oil soluble one. this will make your formulation a lot easier to make. solvents like DPG, Mineral oil, Sunflower oil, etc can help.

1.) It is a must to test the RO water you are purchasing, taking note of the pH, total dissolved solids (TDS) and microbial count. The actual results must match the specifications in the COA your supplier provided.

2.) Final rinsing with RO water is also a must. Most critical property of RO water is the low TDS, which reflects the hardness of the water you used for cleaning. Also, washing with RO water ensures minimal microbial presence. Emulsions and liquid products like toner are affected very much by TDS. Though installing your own system is a bit too much, if you’re saying you are a starting manufacturer. You must also monitor the pH, TDS and microbial count of the tap water you are using.

@myspareacc21 I agree with @johnb. You might want to use EGDS (ethylene glycol distearate) instead, which you can solubilie in CDEA with heating up to 70 degrees. This makes for a nice white pearly appearance for washes, and may add to the density too

Hi. Why do you need to dissolve stearic acid? Are you going to use it as an opacifying or pearlizing agent for a rinse off product?

@Belassi one silicone supplier educated us on the wound healing properties of silicones. They say silicones protect the wounded area, while keeping Oxygen molecules available for faster wound healing. Add in the emollience that silicone brings, wounds heal faster and scars fade to a lighter shade.

@Belassi I just did PEG-7 glyceryl cocoate make-up remover but my mixture became cloudy… Is there a specific brand that can make the mixture clear?

@Zink due to this clouding effect I tried a few more mixtures and came up with a clear one using NatraGem S140 NP.

Thank you for your inputs. I guess I have to convince my boss to move on from this combination and try new materials.
