    @Pharma thanks for such explanation.

    @Pharma by effectively i mean effective when shampooing the hair in very hard water.

    What is the lowest pH at which EDTA can chelate calcium effectively in very hard water for Shampooing?

    How about citric acid @ ph 5 for calcium chelating?

    @Pharma how about fragrance oils?
    Do they also penetrate skin easily and pass into the bloodsteam and excrete by breath?

    Don’t use chelating agents like EDTA or sodium phytate and citric acid. Adjust the pH with lactic acid. Use caprylhydroxamic acid if you need a chelating agent in the Product.

    I am very skeptical about the effectiveness of essential oils in skincare products. For me they act like fragrance, only appear to be natural. But i do believe all kinds of scent can play with our moods. For example lavender can make us feel calm, citrus scent is energizing, creamy scent like chocolate or vanilla make us feel hungry. Any strong scent can give us a headache… But thats just about it.

    Yesterday, one of my family members tried an essential oil based product on her son (2yo) who was having cough with phlegm. After rubbing the product on his chest, the son coughed out lots of phlegm. It was like magic! Was it a coincidence, or did the product really work? The product is a cosmetic, but with lots of drug claims. I suspect it’s the rubbing motion that was responsible for the magical moment? But these kinds of product reviews sometimes make me question my view on essential oils. Maybe they do work? Or maybe just olive oil or any other massage oil can give the same result? It’s the rubbing that works? Or maybe the scent of the essential oil blend makes us wanna puke phlegm?

    I always think of topical cosmetic products to work by getting absorbed into the epidermis or forming a layer on the skin. But the scent of the product can affect our experience of using the product too.. How far can it (the scent) affect us / our brain?

    What is your opinion on skincare products with essential oils and drug claims (help reduce cough, phlegm, etc)? Yes, they are wrong for using drug claims, but i’m interested to know how far essential oils aromatheraphy can affect us.. All those claims on aromatheraphy, are they real?

    Hope you can share your opinion on this. Thank you.

    How does this product smell?
    Like lavender? Thyme? Or something else?

    My question is particularly about MCT oil vs Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride. They have samse INCI, same CAS number and same IUPAC nomenclature “decanoic acid;octanoic acid;propane-1,2,3-triol”. Even some manufacturers say these two are the same.

    So What makes these two Products different? And what should i check to know the product i am purchasing is MCT oil or Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride?

  • It is unstable emulsion and creaming is happening.

    leaf water as first ingredient and not stable emulsion. preservatives don’t work correctly in my experience in unstable emulsions. How much is the shelf life of this product?

    I don’t think sarcosinate cause the formation of nitrosamines. Why do you think it does so?

    Is these any medium chain triglycerides other than Capric and Caprylic Acids in MCT oil?

    That preservatives, what is the percentage of active preservative in them. They are allowed at 15ppm which is %0.0015 combined.

    @MarkBroussard i am looking for something eatable that can be used in lotion too. MCT is more expensive than Caprylic/Capric Triglycerides. So i want to know if there is a real difference or just difference in names to sell MCT for more money.

    Both have triglycerides in second part of there name. Caprylic/Capric is also Medium Chain. So what else is in one or isn’t in another that makes these two different?

    @Pharma can we call caprylic/capric triglyceride an MCT oil?

    Is caprylic/capric triglyceride eatable?

    @singhc10 that is interesting. I thought ALS/ALES would be milder than SLS/SLES.

    Is ALS/ALES theoretically harsher than SLS/SLES or just in your experience?

    Don’t use EDTA with cationics

  • “Hyaluronic acid is the best and strongest moisturizing ingredient” this ingredient costed me a lot of money and didn’t do anything beneficial or noticable.
    I have eczema and in winter i strongly need to use a potent moisture or a corticosteroid drug for it. The only moisturizer that helped me was petrolatum based lotion with %20 Glycerin. It is not aesthetically pleasant but it workes and you can feel the moisturizing benefits from first use.

    Appreciated

    Can you tell me at what percentage maximum did you use these surfactants in stainless steel and how much contact time maximum?

    @klangridge thanks
    Hope you are fine.

    I have purchased Amodimethicone emulsion and will receive it soon.

    From PQ10 jr400 and guar hydroxypropyltrimonium chloride, which one helps the deposition of Amodimethicone better?
    And at how much use level minimum?
