I’m in the middle of making a Moroccan Argan Oil dupe for personal use and I found a DIY formula online but the original product does not use cyclopentasiloxane. Should I just add more dimethicone and/or cyclomethicone Thanks!! 🙂

Moroccanoil treatment comes in two versions: the original one contains cyclopentasiloxane and has more dimethicone than cyclomethicone. The lighter version, on the other hand, doesn’t include any cyclopentasiloxane but has more cyclomethicone than dimethicone. So, it’s up to you, try both and choose whichever your hair loves best.

Cyclomethicone is the generic name for cyclotetrasiloxane, cyclopentasiloxane, cyclohexasiloxabe, etc. Now, big brand use for this product a dimethiconol gum in a volatile carrier (cyclopentasiloxane). This gives viscosity to the product, good conditioning when applied and lighteness since the carrier will evaporate. You can mix this with natural oils an esters withitn their solubility limita, to create your formula.
