    Is it typical for a hair conditioner to thicken considerably during the Freez/Thaw cycles of stability testing?

    If the viscosity has changed after temperature cycling, then the product isn’t stable in my opinion.

    @Belassi is correct.

    However, this was a pretty common occurrence with some of our conditioner formulas.  Viscosity might double for some formulas.  Mostly this didn’t happen but we still passed some formulas which did this but were otherwise stable.

    I must say that I found conditioner development very difficult. A multitude of ingredients to deal with. I also had viscosity problems in development.

    So far all other stability conditions (25, 45 and 5C) are all fine.

    It is good to hear that this is not that unusual.
