Hello. I tried copying a formula for a lotion online. I just used different oils and butters that I have on hand. The product smelled like the unrefined cocoa butter I used but when I added the Citric Acid, the scent drastically changed in an unpleasant way. The more I added Citric Acid to reach the ph of 4.5, the more unpleasant the scent becomes. This is the formula I used.

    Phase A

    59.13% Distilled Water

    10.00% Glycerine

    0.20% EDTA

    Phase B

    2.00% Colloidal Oatmeal

    3.35% G.S. + PEG 100

    1.30% Coconut Oil

    1.30% Sunflower Oil

    2.60% Shea Butter

    9.20% Cocoa Butter

    2.52% IPM

    3.20% Cetearyl Alcohol

    0.20% Aloe Vera Powder

    Phase C

    3.00% Cyclomethicone

    0.50% Liquid Germal Plus

    0.50% Vitamin E

    0.30% Allantoin

    0.20% Potassium Sorbate

    0.50% Sodium Benzoate

    *QS Citric Acid (50% Solution)

How do i fix this problem?

Could you try removing potassium sorbate (you don’t actually need it in that formula)?
