    @Benz3ne The three iron oxide used is from the same grade and hence have similar particle size. The same combination is used in other formulation and all work well, only doesn’t work on this formula. Is that means that premix the iron oxide with talc will help the dispersion?

    @Pharma yes, I’m having difficulties to scale up my product. Lab batch varies from 150g to 1kg. Production from 25kg to 100kg.  In lab batch I use only one type of homogenizer while production  mixer varies according to batch and available machine.  Thank you

    @Pharma  blue is water, yellow is oil and silicone. Yes, it has became a very clear cut 3 phases. Hooray~~~Thanks for your advice.
    But one thing i cant get is why by changing the ratio to 1:1:1 is work but not for 1:3:1….

    @Belassi
    @Pharma
    I got a something weird today. Exactly same oil, water and silicone with ratio 1:1:1. There is no more water layer on top, but just that the separation is not really clear cut. There are some water droplets at the bottom and I believe it is due to water stronger adhesive force?  Just that is that mean I just keep my ratio to 1:1:1 and also there is restricted packaging selection to ensure I have clear cut of 3 phases?

    @Pharma the ratio is 1:3:1 of oil: water: silicone
    @Belassi can i ask how to make the silicone red without affecting the oil phase colour? cuz if i used oil soluble red for silicone it will affect oil phase as well, isn’t it?

    Thank you

  • @EVchem Thanks for your explanation!

    @EVchem @ngarayeva001 Thank you very much for the input.

    @EVchem oh…but it doesn’t seem to be the case because when I included the cetearyl alcohal, it caused sweating in my case….it’s the one not compatible with others…
    @ngarayeva001 regarding to your comment, is that mean for any anhydrous rinse off, we should include ONLY high HLB emulsifier but not low HLB for easy rinse off? Do I get it right?

    Haven’t done anhydrous scrub before, looking at the formula @ngarayeva001 and @EVchem provided, it contains high HLB thickener in the anhydrous formulation. Just wonder is that fine, don’t these affect the stability?
    I have such question because last time I was formulating a lipstick which is anhydrous as well and I used cetearyl alcohol but end up the formulation had sweating issue. So wonder do we need to take this into consideration while formulating?

    Thank you in advance for any sharing.

    I think the percentage can only be find out through experiments.  Adjust one at a time to find the optimum percentage.

    Besides, in my opinion, the formulation is fine for hair serum. However, does it work as a oil bath as well?  This is because there is no emulsifier in the formulation to wash away the oil when come into contact with water. Correct me if I’m wrong…

    I’ve revised my formula and using uncoated pigment and filler and it is better. Just that yellow spots is observed instead of white spots. The texture is fine with no abnormalities. Any idea?

    @Bill_Toge  I see…we don’t have such equipment to conduct the test. But I believe it is as what you said the water in the formulation is very little. Thanks a lot for your advice. Appreciate it!

    @Perry oh, it’s a new information to me! Thank you very much for your guidance!!!! Appreciate!

    @Perry serious? It really give me a shock as according to the book “Colour Cosmetics” from Jane C. Hollenberg states that :

    w/o emulsions containing electrolytes hae significantly greater resistance to coalescence with improved freeze/thaw stability. Electrolytes function in the water phase to limit the polymeric emulsifier’s solubility in water, forcing the emulsifier to the water/oil interface, thus maximizing effectiveness.

    Am I misunderstanding anything from the content? Could you please clarify?

    Thanks a lot.

    @marytsiang yea…and I identify no emulsifier in this formula….sigh…

    @David @Bill_Toge  but there is NaCl as well…isn’t it to make the emulsion more stable?
