Judging from the chemical structure, imo alkyl lactate would fall into the low spreading emollient (heavier feels) and alkyl benzoate would be in the medium/high spreading (lighter feels)

Take out salt, use Acrylates Polymer/Cellulose/Gum or any other polymeric thickener

  • Try to add Cetearyl Alcohol, it would act as the viscosity builder hence create the lotion-like consistency.

Aculyn 22 or Aqua SF-1 might work

Probably be aeration in your sample, also petrolatum might help bringing shine into the finish product

@Ichlas what would be a buffer capacity in case of emultion? Thank you

It depends on electrolytes present in your system, but 10 mM may be a good start. You also can do trials and pick what is best for you.

You can use this site: http://clymer.altervista.org/buffers/cit.html for easy citric acid buffer calculation with whatever pH you want

HDPE is compatible with vegetable triglycerides, but the plasticizers used by this blow molder were not, which is why some bottles will soften like that. The phthalates (now discontinued) plasticizers were infamous for this.

Thank you for your answer, but i don’t quite get it. Isn’t plasticizer intended to make the plastic flexible? so why the oil can soften the plastic?

It will depend on what else is in your formula and what pH. Is it a true soap or just surfactants?

It is a true soap. For now, the formula only consists of fatty acids, KOH, Na4EDTA, Glycerin, HPMC. The pH is around 9.3
Do you think soap from saponification can be thickened with salt like syndet? Because I’ve tried adding CAPB and/or non-ionic surfactant as a co-surfactant and then salt, but it didn’t thicken.

I think acrylate polymer like ultrez 30 won’t get along with cationic substances like bataine and salts like sodium benzoate, since it will interfere the charge repulsion in acrylate to thicken

Also what solvents are Sepimax ZEN made with? I’ve been looking online but haven’t found the answer as of yet.

    It’s t-Butyl Alcohol and Water
