Probably we all just use whatever surfactant based thing is left in our shower from the last project we tested 😂. Also, two steps for showers aren’t very new. There are in-shower lotions meant to use after bodywash that are similar to a hair conditioner. These have been around for over 10 yrs.

I second the PEG 7 Glyceryl Cocoate as @Gunther mentioned. Makes an average facial wash feel more elegant and moisturizing.

My first guess was fragrance also.

Yes absolutely put them through stability, if you’re doing any kind of large supply chain type distribution. Same way you do everything else. If it’s a soap made with vegetable oils (coconut, sunflower, etc.) you’ll want to add an antioxidant. I’ve found .02% rosemary oleoresin very effective in making an organic bar soap we produce hold up in stability, that was previously having oxidation issues. On glycerin soaps, you’ll want to put them through stability to be sure they don’t have melt/sweat/shrink issues. Be sure to have them packaged in the actual packaging they will be sold in.

Perhaps I am getting old, but what’s the problem with simply rolling a joint, smoking a pipe or mixing it in with some Shisha tobacco in a Hookah.

    ? Love it!

I can’t say on viscosity, we have used it for very thick creams. I have seen accurate readings as low as pH2 and high as pH12 with proper calibration.

This one has lasted the longest so far for us. But extra calibration fluid and recalibrate often and make sure to use the storage fluid.

    @myraqureshi

You’re referring to a whipped balm.  Heat your waxes, butters, oils to make a homogeneous liquid.  Add 3% Tapioca Starch while rapidly stirring the mixture to get an even distribution.  When the mixture cools down and begins to solidify, whip it with a whisk attachment at very high speed.  This will introduce air into the mix and the Tapioca Starch will hold the whipped texture.  Continue whipping until cooled to room temp.

Do you know if this holds up in stability?

Gel your water phase with either carbomer or xanthan may improve the texture. You didn’t ever mention what your water phase temp was. This could be part of your problem. Also I don’t know how waxy your formula is, but we pour our final product shortly after emulsification really warm, like 60C.

It is difficult to “confirm” anything by simply looking at a picture. Most here are kind of hands on people ? when it comes to solving a formula problem. What is your soap maker saying?

Also study into properly preserving your product. Especially clays.

Your formula is not in percentage so it is difficult, but you are probably not using too much clay. You should try gelling your water phase and don’t worry about the unnecessary cool before adding clays. Heat your water phase to at least 70C and combine the two together at that temp.

Percentages please, no one can tell you if you did indeed add in “too much kaolin and bentonite” if we don’t know how much.

We put it in shampoo at the end pre-stirred into the ‘cones, preservative, etc.

Good point on the “bug food”. I was referring about putting glycerin in a bath bomb at all. Glycerin would draw or hold moisture into the bomb and cause premature reaction.

Why would you want to do do that? Glycerin in anhydrous, let alone a “time bomb” is a bad idea.

I’m hearing rumors some XYZ Pharmaceutical Company has a patent on the process of CBD isolate. Don’t hold your breath on market or price….. I think this whole market is in for some surprises. My opinion on functionality is its still placebo. But hay, let’s make hay while the sun shines.

I am working on several CBD projects too and we are primarily using CBD pure isolate at $10,000 kg. The requests are between 50-100 mg/oz product. They send each batch we manufacture in to test, ensuring their specified amount is in each. Honestly I know very little about this CBD isolate except it incorporates well into the oil phase. Lol.  Such a lame marketing bubble as we also incorporate other “actives” that really do the job such as menthol, etc.

I want to be involved in every aspect of the production (e.g. suppliers, exact formulation and heritage)

This alone would make me likely to pass on the job.

Exactly. Leave that part to your great chemist.

I would suspect the white lipid layer would be from the unsaponifiables in the olive oil. You could try lowering your percentage of olive or dropping it completely and see what happens. We don’t use an excess of more than 1% KOH (which is later neutralized with citric science) and get crystal clear all-coconut liquid soap.
