Just curious - Why do you want an “olivem 1000” formula if you don’t want to use it? :)

“best” depends on at least three factors:

    time
    type of product
    equipment you can afford

UL Prospector also restricts my access sometimes - however I just call or Email the supplier directly and they usually are very helpful.

I agree with beaver - however  I think they differ - at least in service. Some have a good R&D, some not. That can be important if you want customized formulas.

Good point but I am not sure I understand it right. Are you referring to that certain O/W emulsions turn W/O once on the skin?

Or do you mean that the emulsion type is unimportant and/or other factors weigh more heavily when formulating for optimal delivery of an active?

The exact composition of a particular toothpaste varies with each manufacturer, but a typical formulation is abrasive 10-40%, humectant 20-70%, water 5-30%, binder 1-2%, detergent 1-3%, flavour 1-2%, preservative 0.05-0.5% and therapeutic agent 0.1-0.5%.

    good luck!

Not tested on animals is simply scientifically incorrect since we are animals. However it would sound very strange if you claimed “not tested on animals - except humans”. That is why logic has to suffer a bit.

Iaskedbetter that is true, there are no specific limits for calling it cetearyl alcohol. Even worse is that the mixture stearic/palmitic acid is usually sold under stearic acid.

    2 reasons

    1. larger companieis use software to calculate INCI and  it is not that smart yet
    2. cetearyl means 50/50 Cetyl /Stearyl if that is not your ratio you should declare them separately

There is no scientific consensus regarding the 48h patch test. It is reasoned that this self-test which is not controlled by scientists could actually induce an allergy or sensitivity reaction since hair color normally never get in contact with the skin for that amount of time.

@Bill_Toge thanks, this is the kind of information suppliers seems to avoid. I think the Glydant plus will be a better choice for a hair gel product project with a short dead line.

I keep on hearing  that DMDM alone is not so effective for yeasts and molds and that there are better alternatives. Usually I get something like Euxyl PE9010 recommended. But is this really as effective as a formaldehyde releaser? Of course I know micro-organisms are unpredictable sometimes but..

Demineralised water is the place to start. If  You could get your water somewhere else, like hot spring water, if you want to make a good story to sell.
