@Chemist5000 & @Rebelgreaser66 I posted complete formula about 3-4 months back in one of the posts. Please look for it, I again suggest to go Ceteareth-20 way @30%. Use a combination of glycerol and propylene glycol @7% & 8% respectively. Heat ceteareth-20 separately and process st 85-90C. Add Polysorbate 20 @2% and avoid any resin if you want a clear product. Add fragrance and preservative just before pouring into containers. I have already commercialized the product and it is stable @ 45C for 2 months plus.
Hope this helps and you get the desired product. -
No mine is based on the esterquat and HEUR thickener/stabilizer, so it’s pretty simple. The product sells good and no issues with stability.
As for fatty alcohols I am sure if formulated properly along with some Glyceryl Stearate you can get a good stable product. You can use Lauramine Oxide 1% and see how it works out. -
This type I use for my fabric conditioner formulations, though a check with your supplier would be a good idea. Generally the difference in such grades is the level of impurities, commonly they all are substantive.

63% Ethanol will be a standard dosage, NO HEC and as Dr. Bob says use Carbober instead. Also check with your supplier about the nature of beads, I never had to pre soak them.

Agree with Dr. Bob, use Veegum only if the formulation gets unstable. Or better make one sample with Veegum as well and compare 2 versus all 3 comprehensively.

Reduce the humectants, add a little c12-15 Alkyl Benzoate or a volatile solvent like cyclomethicone. Remember it’s all about trials and experimentation to get desired product properties.

Surely water is much cheaper than ethanol, if water was a successful replacement big daddies would be dealing in water based sprays mostly.

@Bill_Toge I am based in Dubai and I have had a wonderful experience working with Croda. Advantage here is that they have a direct sales office here. But with Mike’s experience I too would think twice to deal with such ‘passing the buck’ attitude. I guess I am just lucky to deal directly.

Thanks @DRBOB@VERDIENT.BIZ, as always you are very helpful. Will update once I am through.

Thank you all for the suggestions.
@Perry we have used it in our regular shampoo formulations with good acceptance from the customers.
@Belassi PE Gel??
@DRBOB@VERDIENT.BIZ I replaced it with Lauroyl Isethionate before leaving the lab and I feel the clarity was a notch lower compared to Cocoyl. Is there anything I can do to improve clarity. Do you think the pH is acceptable upto 7.0 for a shampoo, although I have explained to the customer that here the pH is directly proportional to the clarity. -
You need that much Ethanol there which is just about right and the purpose is to dry the product in a very less time. Generally you add (I see you already have it) humectant to counter that drying effect, residue is a big issue here though and you will have to optimize the a/p salt in the formula.

The same ester I tried to use @ 0.05% level to minimize whitening in my regular hydro-alcoholic clay. Seems the formulation turns little hazy and the whitening hardly been reduced. Could you suggest a way of adding it properly or it won’t go in this one. My formulation has ethanol denat., water, HEC, PEG 8, Propylene glycol, little alkali to neutralize and buffer the final pH and Al Chlorohydrate.

That cannot be prevented, check Lavanya range from Neelikon India.
