I’m not going to give advice because the idea is so bad. Skin bleaching, to begin with, is a stupid idea, check out what Fela had to say about it in his album Yellow Fever.
Second:
For bleaching skin, an older study reported that you need a concentration of between 20 and 30 percent. This is much higher than the 3 percent that’s considered safe for home use. The risks of burns and scars are far greater than any potential skin lightening effects.
Third, there is a high risk of accidentally creating high explosive substances. -
I personally think it’s a really crap surfactant, the only things going for it are a lot of foam and cheapness.

Thanks. Yes I read up on licorice emulsions and made one with no problem at all. As a leave-in it would be far too sticky, roughly what percentage of water would you recommend for a leave-in product?
By the way, the following day, the sample had turned semi-solid. -
Glycyrrhizic acid, but it’s soluble, has a lot of saponins. Tepex is Tepezcoahuite. Crystalline DMAE bitartrate. It doesn’t materially affect sensorials.
I agree with your comment, it was expensive considering the amount I used. -
There’s nothing more I can contribute — I gave up trying to formulate for rosacea because nothing I tried worked, and my only test subject got tired of being my experimental animal. Tests with Agascalm at up to 5% produced no verifiable effect and it’s a fairly expensive extract.

Yes, thanks very much for posting the photo. Unimpressive. I’d want a LOT more foam than that.

We’ve been using Spectrastat G2 for over 4 years and have products that old still preserved. -

Haven’t you learned yet? That preservative is good for shampoo. I would never use it with a skin product. -
Funnily enough I did try making jam with 30% sugar and additional pectin. I added 0.5% sodium benzoate but after about 6 weeks it went mouldy.

Add EDTA to improve the preservative system.
-
We use that Spectrastat at 0.7% and have never had an issue, even with pea proteins and high aloe vera content. Also should include EDTA at 0.2%.

Tesco-operate? (Selling England By the Pound. Genesis)
The 5% figure is just what I tried the first time, it worked. It may be possible to use less, I haven’t tried that. -
You just strain the result. It is so simple I suggest just try it. The smell is very obvious.

You’ll know by the smell and the colour. You first grind the oats into fine powder. Then add the powder to the NaOH solution. It will begin the process immediately, you’ll smell it. Leave for about 20 minutes, stirring, the smell will go away. Then, you neutralise the result with citric acid (you’ll get sodium citrate) or hydrochloric (sodium chloride) and you will see the colour change back from a brown to oatmeal again. It’s pretty simple. You will need a preservative of course, if you don’t use it immediately.

Should I sue?I would advise anyone looking for a “natural” type preservative system and can afford to buy a 25Kg pail to take a look at Spectrastat by Inolex. We changed from parabens to that, three years or more ago, and have samples in pots still on the shelf from that time with no apparent preservative issues. I’ve recently been experimenting with KEM NAT and so far have had no issues with that either; and I have a LOT of organic material in our creams and gels, some are 50% aloe vera for instance.

Re. Labels, if you’re in the UK I recommend Diginate. We use them to do our circular metallic logo labels. Really nice.

Presumably what is happening here is that the top part cools first and solidifies. Then as what’s below continues to cool — and contract — it pulls away from the top ‘plug’ leaving a hole.
This is a simple mechanical issue. If I were going to solve this I would probably begin by designing a mechanical agitator in which I could stack a batch and have them continuously agitated as they cool. Or perhaps use a hot air blower to simply remelt the top layer. -

To find the shelf life, leave them on the shelf for a few years… I think I still have some usable hand cream that’s five years old. -
We use only the finest organic vegan natural water, harvested from morning dewdrops on succulents in the high sierra, by indigenous fairtrade peasants clad entirely in recyclable textiles.
