1% Euxyl PE9010 + 1% Geogard Ultra + 0.2% sodium phytate + 2% Propanediol + 3% Pentylene Glycol + 4.8 pH for 200 g Toner
I added the Geogard Ultra powder last, and stirred with the magnetic stirrer for 15 minutes, I also tried heating it, but I just couldn’t get the Geogard to fully dissolve. I did some research and it seems that a lot of people have this issue with Geogard Ultra.
Is there something else I can use in its place that’s more user friendly?
Thank you

Has 5% glycols.Sure, but you need to couple it up with Gluconolactone (and Sodium Benzoate, chelator, low pH, but it should work
I can only find Gluconolactone as part of Geogard Ultra powder (Gluconolactone (and) Sodium Benzoate). If that works, what percentage for the toner (supplier says 0.75% - 1.5%)?
Thank you.

@MarkBroussard What are your thoughts on Jeecide CAP 2(by Jeen): Caprylyl Glycol (and) Phenoxyethanol (and) Hexylene Glycol?

@Squinny: For a water-based serum: PE9010 (1%) + Sodium Benzoate (0.35%) + Pentylene Glycol (2%) + Phytic Acid (0.2%); pH = 4.6 to 4.8
If you’re working with an emulsion: PE9010 (1%) + Sodium Benzoate (0.35%) + Pentylene Glycol (2%) + Phytic Acid (0.2%) + Caprylyl Glycol (0.3%); pH = 4.6 to 4.8
Hi Mark, would Propanediol 1,3 work instead of Caprylyl Glycol? I have it in my formula at 2% already. Thank you.

@helenhelen
Vegeluron is not sticky at all on the skin. In my opinion it’s more slippy and ‘wet’ and compared to Siligel. -
Thank you for your input. Every post had really good points!
@MarkBroussard, I really appreciate the clarification that it is not the fruit stem cells that constitute the extract,
@Pharma, that even if it was the stem cells themselves, it wouldn’t help regenerate human cells, although Biohacker and TED Fellow Andrew Pelling found a way to combine apple cells and human cells make ears. He used the apple cellulose as scaffolding for the ear. Of course, that’s not what we’re doing in cosmetics with fruit stem cells, but interesting nonetheless, maybe in the future future (wink)?
@grapefruit22, thank you for outlining your way of thinking about fruit extracts. Helpful!

@Linc NatraSmoth is $408/kg for the low amount I need (at LotionCrafter) and it’s also in glycerin not Propanediol. I think Propanediol is more moisturizing than glycerin. I will definitely check out the Tremella from New Directions. Thank you!

Thanks everyone. Some really great suggestions!

@Microformulation I wish this were an increase due to supply chain, we are facing those everywhere in our business. This is just an expensive ingredient period so that’s why I was trying to find an alternative.

@chemicalmatt: Thank you so much. I would very much appreciate seeing your version if you can dig it up.

Thank you do much! Yes, they are only there to hold things together. I love your GMS suggestion, I will try it.
I am not familiar with EGDS, aka glycol distearate? I’m curious about it so I’ll look into it.
Thanks again!

@Rockstargirl Thank you. I know they have one but I’ve also heard that it is a good idea to have my own. However, since only one will be signed, maybe on this one I’ll have to stick with theirs. I’ve inquired with two attorneys and they don’t do this kind of contract…

@shams Thank you. Indeed, those butters cannot keep this formula together. I don’t like the texture imparted by wax for this formula, but a hydrogenated vegetable oil might be interesting. I’ll give it a go.

@kivangel
Thank you so much. You are absolutely right! I will try raising the melting point with a fatty alcohol, acid or ester.P.S. (there is tocopherol, I forgot to mention)

In my experience, 5 minutes of mixing with a Bosh clever mixx, drastically improves the consistency and the haptic properties. I’ve never worked with your emulsifier, so i can’t say anything in details.I have that little Bosch . I’m not using it much these days because it is so fast and you can’t adjust the speed, so I always end up with aeration. Do you find that it introduces a lot of air? How big are the batches you use it on?

It is my understanding that you can over-emulsify and ‘break’ the emulsion. What doers that actually look like: tiny bubbles or something else?
