EntrepreneurDecember 13, 2020 at 10:33 am in reply to: Non-ionic oil phase stabilizer for emulsion suggestions@ngarayeva001 it is water phase stabilizer.
My mistake. -
@Cst4Ms4Tmps4 thanks
I am using olive oil, petrolatum and non-ionic surfactant Polyglyceryl-4 Laurate. I don’t have those non-ionic surfactants you said available. Is it enough?
How to make Salicylic Acid crystals extremely small? By homogenizer or there is another way?
Can i neutralize salicylic acid with sodium hydroxide to make sodium salicylate?
Does sodium salicylate have the same anti acne and exfoliating effects as salicylic acid? If yes can i use sodium salicylate instead of salicylic acid for these purposes?
-
@MarkBroussard thanks
I did add %1 salicylic acid to oil phase and added oil phase to water. Then adjusted the pH with sodium hydroxide%30. It is stable until now.
Questions:
1. Can i adjust the pH of salicylic acid in oil phase or befor adding it to oil phase before making the emulsion?2. In how many days usually crystalization of salicylic happes as my lotion is stable until now?
3. If crystalization happens, does it destabilize the emulsion?

I use Ethyl Lauroyl Arginate HCl which is cationic and gellan gum is anionic. They would not be compatible as Ethyl Lauroyl Arginate HCl is not compatible with xanthan gum too which is anionic.
Is there any non-ionic or cationic oil stabilizer option? -
Abdullah
EntrepreneurNovember 27, 2020 at 3:45 am in reply to: Cold process O/w thin lotion stability issue@Bill_Toge i think that was the problem. I made another samples with %0.1 and %0.2 xanthan gum after i saw your comment. The one with %0.2 xanthan gum is stable yet.
As xanthan gum is anionic, here is another problem. I want to add Ethyl Lauroyl Arginate HCl which is cationic surfactant and incompatible with anionic xanthan gum. So what non-ionic stabilizer should i use?
Both natural and synthetic options. Good skin feel is preferred.I want to make two versions. One low viscosity less than 3000 cps and one lotion. More than 20000 cps.

EntrepreneurNovember 25, 2020 at 1:49 am in reply to: Cold process O/w thin lotion stability issue@ketchito the Hlb of oil mix is 6.97
If i increase the amount of high HLB emulsifier it would be more than 6.97.
Is that ok? -

@Perry @Pharma @Fekher @chemicalmatt
Is it correct that i mix sodium phytate with water and store it at pH>10 without adding preservative to it because this way it is easier to use?
-
@Halim try this formula
All in active percentage
SLES %10
CAPB %1
Coco glucoside %1
Salt no more than %2
A gentle broad spectrum preservativeBenzoyl alcohol at %1 is more gentle than (CIT/MIT) at %0.01.
Don’t look at big companies. You don’t know how much they use. May be they can preserve the product with %0.001 but you cant at %0.01.
Use a different mixing tank than what you use for paint and see the results.
For us no matter how much we clean the tank after making Shampoo, when we add water in the tank for next time use it does some foam. So maybe something from your paint is remaining in the tank and mixed with hand wash -
@Pharma what about other chelators like sodium phytate?
We use it in every product to help preservative and to rise the pH if necessary.
How chelating effect of these two compared?

@himansh_20 i first wanted to make sulfate free products but it was not good. Then made sulfate products at least a hundred different formulas because i was afraid of sulfate and didn’t wanted my product to be harsh.
Here is what i learned.SLES is not harsh so don’t be afraid of it. Use at least %10 active SLES if you want good foam.
SLS is harsher than SLES and has less foam. So why use it? Remove this.
CAPB isn’t milder than SLES (in my experience may be because it has MCI/MI as preservative) and not only doesn’t increase the foam but decrease it. So use it at %1 just for viscosity purpose.
CDEA also just to shift the salt curve to left at %1
Don’t use glycerin
Use pq7 at %3.3 or 2.2 (0.2, 0.3 active)
Don’t know about your preservatives and edta as i haven’t used them.
Here is my suggested formula from your available ingredients for good foam.
SLES %10 active
CAPB %1 active
CDEA %1 active or don’t use at all
Pq7 %0.2 or 0.3 active
