  • Air pockets on surface of face cream formula after a few weeks

    Hello Chemists Corner community!
After filling my face cream formula inside a jar and securing tight, small air pockets appear on the surface of the formula. The consistency remains the same, only the appearance of small air pockets.
I was wondering, has anyone else come across this issue? I was going to start eliminating a few oils from the formula as well as increasing the mixing time.

I was also thinking it could be caused from a few bigger air bubbles bursting underneath and causing the surface to crater in.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!
    Thank you!

You haven’t really given enough information for people to evaluate.

    Did you use a preservative?

What are the ingredients.  If there is a reaction occurring between ingredients, we can only help if we know what might be in there.

Were there air bubbles when you filled…and they just migrated to the surface?

You would need to share the Formula for anyone to really objectively weigh-in. Also, what are you using for mixing equipment?
