MemberMarch 15, 2024 at 10:53 pm in reply to: Detecting Bullsh**t from active ingredientsHi perry! How about the scientific articles written in well-known scientific books? Are they credible source regarding the efficacy of active ingredients? Sample books are Harry’s Cosmeticology 9th edition, Cosmetic Formulation of Skin Care Products by Zoe Draelos etc. I am overloaded by sea of information overload. I hope you guide me in the direction where I can find credible source regarding the efficacy of skin care ingredients

MemberMarch 14, 2024 at 7:36 pm in reply to: Detecting Bullsh**t from active ingredientsHow about the situtation where they still make claims within the boundaries of cosmetic definition? How do I sense the bullsh*t? It is very tedious for formulator to test skincare active ingredients one by one and wait for at least 30 days to see the effect. It becomes harder to choose active ingredients when there are lots of supplier/vendor claiming the same stuff.

MemberMarch 14, 2024 at 7:33 pm in reply to: Detecting Bullsh**t from active ingredientsHi graillotion! Any tips on how to choose which information to dig deep into among the sea of information out there? They are many instances that they are conflicting with one to another. This is my struggle especially in our industry.

MemberMarch 13, 2024 at 9:48 pm in reply to: What innovations will be the game changer? Thanks perry! How about sensitive skin especially for babies in tropical countries? Do you have any leads for breakthrough technologies in these type of products? I mean something not driven by marketing story. Something that will be perceivable by the consumers unlike those pushed by reputable ” snake oil ” suppliers? I have been pitched many times but I feel no difference vs water or glycerin when applying their actives on my skin. I even tried using it on my irritated skin due to long contact with SLES paste but to no avail.

Nope. Not a paid product. It is very useless to ask for paid product in this industry since this industry is full of snake oil sellers. I will be just wasting money buying finished ” fairy dusts ” and ” snake oil “. I want some mentors who can steer me in the right direction of development.

thanks for your invaluable tips as always! I am currently looking for mentors who can help me find breakthrough technologies in asian skincare. My lab currently just copy what my competitor does. I feel like my potential is really limited on what my competitor does. I am also very doubtful on what my supplier is pitching to us since I don’t see any effect while using their active ingredients despite their efficacy data. I am starting to feel that my suppliers are becoming sellers of fairy dust and not learn much from them.Do you have any lead where I can discover technologies for asian skincare ( effective whitening, soothing skin for super sensitive skin among babies etc. )?

Any tips on how to find mentors the way you did?

other than the two, do you have any other recommendations with people at least in the same level as them?

Do you buy the solid form or the liquid form ( the pre-dispersed form ) of C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer? Which of the two do you recommend more?
