@Gunther “Cocaine (powder) is dissolved in a solution of ammonia or sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) and water”, theres a lot of information for ammonium and sodium carbonates uses to make “crack”. Althought baking aoida is a lot easier to find.
In fact in my country Venezuela, neightbor of the biggest cocaine produccer (colombia), all of the Urea, and ammonium salts and compounds are highly restricted and sold only by high supervision of the govement. Thats could apply to Mexico too, wheres Belassi lives.

@Gunther Cocaine base, or “crack” cocaine, is the base form of salt, which is usually made using sodium/ammonium bicarbonate and can be smoked

Saludos @Belassi ,
I tried ussing SLES, SLS, CAPB and combinations yo bost foam, and the only one cost/effective was SLES (70%) at 4% - 5%, i was making soap ussing mostly Tallow that makes almost no foam, and sles gives a good lather, besides that the foam doesnt compare with ussing coconut or palm kernel oil (wich is im ussing right now) in ratios arround 70:30-80:20.@Gunther Ammonium and sodium carbonate in my country are restricted materials and are selled under supervition of the authorities, due to it use in making Cocaine and by-products. Maybe thats could be the reason for the impossibility of belasi to find it.

hi @Doreen , yes, i did find the supplier, Elementis (summit-reheis) sold me mycrodry 323 in drums of approximately 150kg , worked wonderfuly.
Like 2 years ago i made deodorants ussing alum, but it wasnt what i needed.
-
i feel flattered, someone found my 3 yr old thread.

sorry for the long link, what about ussing high molecular weight PEGs, what viscosity so you need to achive?

Hi @Belassi . how are you, i have been working with the boiler for a long time without issues, ussing the right water and making the proper manteniance should be enought for a small 30hp boiler, for making soap and deodorizing tallow the injection of steam is a must here, and very cheap conssidering the diesel cost in my country, the tower welding will be certified to operate at the pressure condition, and at least two relief valves are going to be used in the boiler and the autoclave, besides that the boiler it self is very automatized.
i need help with the tower dimensions, as i said before the arent enought information or patents for low pressure fatsplitting autoclave, im ussing about 2 tons of tallow /week, so im looking for a 500kg volume tower and i want to know if i could use a smaller diameter and keeping the height, for example 45cm diameter, 7m height (about 1100liters full volume) is a lot cheaper to make compared with 70cm diameter same height , but the poor informations about the proccess talks for 70cm or higher diameters and 6m to 12m height.
Any tip would be aprecciated, residence time for the reaction and power consuption are not relevant for the proccess, the literature claims that 8 hours are enogut, but i will be fine if it takes 12 hours to complete.

sticking to your question, glycol diestearate is solid at room temperature, you will need to heat it at 65-70 celcius in order to mix it, or you could make a blend for example with EGDS and sles heating and mixing both.
Using carbomers or xanthan/guar gums will help you suspending ti02 and mica, personally i dont use tio2 with EGDS, the pearlized efects becomes nullified with the opacity given by the tio2 -
@Bobzchemist
thanks you for your reply, im already ussing the fullboil hot procces with no issues ussing palm/cocnut oil, when ussing tallow the color of the soap is grey/brown and it has a little tallow odor, -
@Doreen81 i was ussing a forced air extractor fan.
-
@Belassi thanks belassi, but biodiesel doesnt have any value here, the gasoline, kerosene, diesel and all the petroleum destilates are almost free (a galon of gasoline is arround 0,012$)
-
@Belassi thanks for your reply, i bought a mix of 1100pounds of tallow from a
slaughterhouse, wich i asume wasnt fresh and rancity could impart a dark yellow color to tallow, there arent much suppliers arround here that can handle big quantities, so bassically as always im stuck -
thanks you all for your comentsñ must say that almost all the experiments failed or were very unsatisfactory,
desodorizing was only achived ussing an oil kettle at 250 celcius for about 2 hours
bleaching was only achived ussing sodium hypochlorite with acid and tallowñ with a formation of 2 layers compound wich i think that could be soap (due to free naoh) and a bleached tallow
activation of bentonite was done with 15% hclñ then washedñ dried and pulverized, but the results ussing it for bleaching was unsatifastory

@EliseCortes thanks you very much for the tip.
In soapmaking forum there is a lot of references ussing alum; but i have seen the youtube videos posted in the forums and the results looks disapointing, most of they are making small batchs arround 5lb ussing stick blenders and crock pots, im looking for a feasible procces to make arround 500 pounds per batch.i dont have alum right now, and its very difficult to find raw materials at this time of the year, i made a lot of testing ussign potassium alum as deodorant with very satisfyng results.
-
@das thanks you very much for the link, you are right i could make chlorine gas using acid and acid, i will sustitue it with h202 and acid.
-
today results:
1) natural bentonite clay bleaching didnt worked, the color of threated tallow vs untreated tallow is almost the same, according to litterature natural clay could remoove from 8% to 15% of tallow color.
2) naoh at 5% didnt worked
3) the smell changed a lot for better, the color got from dark yellow to light red, i will try to bleach it tomorrow
4) charcoal didnt bleached or decolorized, in fact the tallow became brown,
5) the phosphoric acid didnt arrived today, i must wait to the monday and try.
6)bleaching with citric acid actives bentonite didnt worked as expected, i will make a 3N HCL activate bentonite and post results

@Bill_Toge thanks for your reply, right now im aiming to do something less complex, i could make hydrogenation, i have a small 5cfm vacum pump, and a smalll 500 liters tank with mixer that could be arrengled to make vacum, inject hydrogen and avoid oxigen, i have seen that i only need about 70 celcius to make the hydrogenation, but i dint know where i can find nickle, does an 50%/50% cooper/nickle dust could work?.
have you hydrigenated tallow?, does it remove color or odor enough?

MemberDecember 9, 2017 at 9:22 pm in reply to: how to make thickness for floor detergentcarbomer and cmc are too expensive for a floor detergent, besides that’ they arent compatible with sodium LABSA, you are ussing sles and cdea, just add salt until you get your desired viscosity, i have seen some manufatures that use arround 15-18% neutralized labsa by it self to get the desired viscosity

todo muy bien por aqui, es dificil, el acento y los terminos coloquiales son todo un reto para entender series o peliculas como la de Pablo Escobar.
well 6$ per bottle is a lot, you could buy like 18 bottles for 6$ in my country, and what about ussing hop or barley extracts?, assuming that beer is mostly water.
-
hi @Belassi , un placer saludarte.
Im a big fan of your post about coffee in shampoo, i would like to know what results are you expecting ussing beer in a shampoo, i have seen a lot of claims in beer shampoo like antidranduff, straigthen hair, brighten hair, anti scalp and more.
besides that, DAS have a good point, i dont think that anyone would like to smell like beer
-
Thanks you all,
As @Belassi i dont have a calibrated reading, im ussing right now a ford cup reliable, but the results are not satisfying.
On the other hand brookfield viscometer worth arround +2000$, and there arent any available arround here. Besides that i just want to verify if all the shampoo batchs has the same viscosity
Apart of producing diferent measurement compared to brookfield @Bobzchemist had you used one?

@DRBOB@VERDIENT.BIZ Thanks you very much, the dealer doesnt want to open the drum, they sells only sealed/unopen drums, i want to take any information available before buying a pallet.
-
@DRBOB@VERDIENT.BIZ
thanks you very much’ but basically the only quat available arround here is Dihydrogenated Tallowamidoethyl Hydroxyethylmonium Methosulfate… -
Suppliers as Evonik, Lg Household and Kao provides little information about ussing Esterquats as replacement, but mainly focusing in enviromental care.
https://personal-care.evonik.com/product/personal-care/Documents/happi-varisoft-eq-65.pdf
And this formulation given by Stepan, by the way 20% of lauramine oxide looks like too much.

@Chemist77 Thanks for your answer, in your fabric formulations do you use it as a primary cationic?, does it have strong surfactance to act as a sole surfactant for fatty alcohols ?
