you need to use HLB system to calculate the percentages of your emulsifiers (glyceryl stearate and ceteareth-20). Link below will show you how to do that.

Cetyl alcohol and mineral oil are thickener and conditioning agents so you have to play with the numbers to get the feel that you want for your cream.
hope this helps ! -
Thank you @DRBOB@VERDIENT.BIZ !

thank you @Bill_Toge and @johnb for your inputs !
so is the purpose of having cetylstearyl alcohol to thicken/stabilize the emulsion like cetyl alcohol in cream?
and is it better to use Polawax with a low HLB emulsifier otherwise we need to use alot of it in order to make a decent stable emulsion?
thanks -
@Bill_Toge thank you !
I always have difficulty understand this, I thought behentrimonium methosulphate is surface active agent or surfactant which doesn’t mean that its an emulsifer. I was told that one sufactant can’t make a stable emulsion, there must be combination of low, high HLB surfactants and emulsion stablizers. In the case of BTMS, I can see behentrimonium by itself as the solublizer but not an emulsifier.
I am missing something, could someone please help?
thanks -
Hi all,
just curious, should C25 & GMS be 5.25% instead 1.4% because oil phase is 21%?
thanks -
I tried 2:1 ratio of tween 80:dimethicone- I premixed 1% of dimethicone in 2% of tween 80 at 45C and then added into water but didnt work- Maybe I am better off going with water soluble silicone. thank you all !

DrBOB- thank you ! what ration of P_80 that you are suggesting?
