Thank you @Perry, I will use this information. Yes it’s a leave on (1 hour max) cream, a hair straightening emulsion.

@Gunther, thanks for your comment, I am using Cetrimonium Chloride, actually I reduced it to 1%, will consider to reduce it again to 0.25% but I’m not sure if it will have a good effect, perhaps will be better to take it off. I do contain cetyl 1% and cetearyl 1.3%.
increasing the glyceryl Stearate or the fatty alcohols tends to build too much viscosity..:(

So….with that in mind :) Is there any efficient way to stabilize this formula if it contains only Cetrimonium Chloride? Around 2-4%.
your responses would be greatly appreciated

Try to add lactic Acid before the ghtc, around 0.1-0.3%

  • Hi, I would recommend to include Incroquat TMS-50 by Croda, a cationic emulsifier and active ingredient for softening requirements, it’s working very very good (personal experience).

Thanks everyone for the answers, I replaced the TMS with a non ionic emulsifier (there are many options) and the problem solved.
    thanks again ??

Thanks @Belassi, can you recommend an alternative emulsifier that can be suitable for this formulation? I chose the TMS-50 due to its fantastic conditioning properties..

That is correct @Belassi, is there any option to keep this emulsifier and avoid fizz?

@Perry isn’t Calcium Hydroxide should be mixed with Guanidine Carbonate?

    Thanks @jeremien!

@chemicalmatt thank you, honestly I do believe that Dimethyl Isosorbide can do a great job but I’m still considering trying it because of the price. Croda sells this ingredient under the name Arlasolve and it’s super expensive. I will look into the Ethoxydiglycol, thanks again!

Hi @Gunther, I actually contain one carboxylic Acid in the formulation, is there any specific Acid you should recommend? And thanks for your comment, I appreciate that.

Thanks @Perry and @Belassi. I haven’t seen those ingredients in any shampoo label actually, I am trying to effectively help the Carbocystein to penetrate into the hair for straightening application.

    @LGrey.
These oils can add some shine but not what you are searching for (from what I can understand by your post). Implementing the shine in them will require high-level usage.
Phenyl Trimethicone will do a great job. Make sure you read some technical info before, it may decrease viscosity in some formulations.

I had the same issue in the past and tried many pieces of advice from different experts locally (too many actually).
I know it sounds simple but it well worked for me - try to include Ultrez 20. Pay attention to pH level during the production.

Again, I am not a professional chemist and I can’t professionally advice by reviewing a formula but this is a personal experience talking, make a sample and see how it goes.

Thank you @Bill_Toge for the helpful information, will definitely take it to my knowledge.

@Gunther thank you for the information. The problem with including most silicones and small amount of water (or not at all) is the cost of the product, it becomes really expensive, but I will definitely try to build something that is a cost effective product.

for all who wondered, I tried several products and I would like to share the results with you.

Glucamate - An effective thickener, but doesn’t react very good with heat, it sticks to the iron flat (even a low amount) and I don’t really recommend. But I do recommend on this product for gels.

I tried Aristoflex AVC and it was excellent, I recommend to use this product for all levels of gels, from runny to a thick one.

in case someone has a question about this subject, feel free to contact me and I’ll be happy to share my experiences.

    Thanks to all :)

Thank you @Belassi, I appreciate that.
I was reading about Polyquaternium-37, BASF has this product and it called Cosmedia Ultragel 300, are you familiar with this product? From what I was reading, it seems to be appropriate.

i will definitely try to use Glucamate LT/VLT, thanks again.
