    I’m about to try cornstarch…
I’ll share my results either way… somebody shared with me how the presence of citric/citrate seemed to exasperate the sweating effect even more than normal… I was using citric acid as my chelate for this formula but now trialing with sodium glutamate diacetate instead. I’ll probably collect some data on the results next week. Thank you for your input and ill let you know how it turns out.

Thank you for commenting Belassi, I was actually hoping you would weigh in.
If I may ask, did you ever come close to making a difference? even a small reduction will help me…

did you ever try clays, cornstarch, making it harder with stearic acid…
and I wonder if Syndet bars have this issue…
I am even thinking on adding a pack of SiO2 to my box to see if that might help…

Thank you Dr. Catherine Pratt :)

  • Take a look at Lauryl Glucoside, coco glucoside or decyl glucoside. I personally love the feel of lauryl glucoside on my formulas! and it does add nice fluffy bubbles. I would ass after trace, at 0.5%-1%

I am new to the forum!
I should have included a breakdown of my formula, sorry about that
My formulas are very simple and look something like this in general terms:

    Sodium palm kernelate base 96%
    titanium dioxide 0.5%
    frag 1%
    emollients 2%

my base already has chelate @ approx. 0.15% (etidronate and EDTA)

is there a recommended chelate range in general for soap products?

to be more specific… can I get away with using sodium citrate at 2% in my soap formulas? I have been using it at 0.25 and it does nothing. A colleague mentioned that in detergents it’s used at up to 9%. I did some trials and at 2% its working good… don’t seem to have affected anything else yet… can I get away with this?
