I agree with Bob and John. I think some of your salicylic acid is converted to sodium salicylate by the addition of sodium hydroxide.
You can validate this by testing your production batch samples for salicylic acid and sodium salicylate. Compare the results and see if the results would add up.

using pencils to record data in GMP documents (such as batch manufacturing records) are a no-no if you will look at Good Documentation Practices. one can easily alter the records if data is recorded using a pencil, compared to a pen.

What’s the INCI name of that emulsifier?

You are experiencing Soaping Effect. This is usually observed when you are using emulsifiers such as glyceryl stearate. What emulsifiers are you using anyway?

Sodium hydroxide could have been used to neutralize the Carbomer in the product. But to be sure, could you post the list of ingredients of Effeclar’s Cleansing Gel?

Working under vacuum is possible, if your mixing tank is equipped with a vacuum system. I have validated production runs of shampoo, body wash, and facial wash on mixing tanks that have vacuum system.

Some suppliers, especially fragrance suppliers, do disclose their formula. But they disclose it directly to the government agency or regulatory body that requires the quantitative formula. Maybe you can try that. And tell the regulatory authority that the registration you are filing for is for your client.

or you can use the Henderson-Hasselbach Equation to compute the amount of citric acid and sodium citrate that you need to use at a specific pH.

I think you are referring to Eumulgin VL 75. This material is composed of lauryl glucoside, polyglyceryl-2-dipolyhydroxystearate and glycerin. I can’t speak for the safety of this raw material. For Decyl Glucoside,I did not encounter any allergic reaction on myself, as well as the panelists who tested samples of our products with relatively high amount of Decyl Glucoside (~5.00%).
With Lamesoft PO 65, I am also quite familiar with that material. May I know the dosage that you used in the body shampoo? I haven’t tried using it at more than 1%. Because that was the recommended dosage according to the supplier.

Try Xanthan Gum and Guar Gum.

You can also use a centrifuge to see if separation will occur. This is specially useful for conditioners (rinse off and leave on)

Try Unistab S69 by Induchem. It’s an effective odor corrector but just check it for sensitivity issues.

Hi @ValChemistLB. Check this link: http://www.asean.org/communities/asean-economic-community/item/asean-cosmetic-good-manufacturing-practice-gmp-training-modules-no-1-to-no-13
One of these modules is about documentation. It can serve as a guide to help you in writing those SOPS. -
Its an ester acetate of menthol. So most likely it will not smell the same as menthol, but will give a certain cooling effect, to some extent. You can try to use in water based products such as toners and body washes.

The supplier will not disclose the full info to you as the complete ingredient list of their product is a “trade secret”. You can try signing a non-disclosure agreement with them if you really want to pursue getting the ingredient list.
