I’ve heard about water and emulsifying waxes too but I’m trying to make oil based ones with simple materials.

im also wondering about differences in the water temp that could affect consistency when I melt them?

currently using some white beeswax pellets and yellow beeswax blocks as well

Gd- it’s the scent of lanolin that turns me off a bit haha. Kinda looking for an alternative and cost wise lanolin is expensive haha

Belassi - yeah I’ve bee not scouting forums a lot. Also trial and error. Since I have no background in cosmetic science I guess I’d call the experts

bill - thanks I’m trying that in my next batch. What percentage do you think would work?

Thanks perry! Thought it was just wax but thanks for telling me it’s resin. Same as ones used for model making?

Thank you. I just wanna make a strong hold pomade with really nice scooping and spreading. What would u suggest that I add to help it spread better

    My bad about that

    beeswax 30%
    microwax 30%
    Petrolatum 14%
    lanolin 5%
    castor oil 10%
    cocooil 10%
    essential oil 1%

i would like to know cause I made a 50/50 of the beeswax and microwax and it spread out better but I think I lost the hold of it.

also by using castor oil compared to coco oil would it help the spreadability?

    Currently re formulated to
    beeswax 60g
    microwax 60g
    petrolatum 90g
    lanolin 10g
    coco oil 45g
    Castor oil 15g
    fragrance oil at 2%

currently waiting feedback on using coco oil and castor oil

also playing with the beeswax vs micro wax ratio. Found out that micro wax if increased makes t a bit easier to spread out but has a tendency to loose that nice hold of beeswax.

    Planning to make it a
80g beeswax and 40g micro wax next or just go 85g then 35g?

Hmm ok thanks. When I lower it the smell doesn’t pop out as much might be diluted a bit already

Thanks! I will switch to a fragrance oil! What’s the typical problem at 4% I head it would only be 1% but sometimes it can’t ask the smell of other ingredients
