I used it in a cleanser and it was great but yeah i can see how the feeling might not work in a cream…think i still might try though, who knows. Just not sure about the compatibility with an anionic emulsifier. Polyquats seem to work alright with anionic surfactants though…

When you say D5 what are you referring to exactly? I’ve heard you mention it before but I see many different results when i search it on the ol’ prospector…
-
Actually an oil spill is exactly what i want for this particular formula im working on. A nice, controlled spill.
-
Got it, i can’t wait.
Are there any tricks for getting it to emulsify other than putting it in the heated oil phase and if needed, adding more emulsifier?

Maybe it’s the panthenol? i use pretty much the same ingredients in a shampoo except the panthenol and it comes out transparent.

Oryza Sativa (Rice) Bran Oil, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Parfum/Fragrance, Camellia Japonica Seed Oil, Polyglyceryl-10 Pentaisostearate, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, Chamaecyparis Obtusa Wood Oil, Squalane, Chamaecyparis Obtusa Water, Saccharomyces/Rice Ferment Filtrate, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Cladosiphon Okamuranus Extract, Prunus Persica (Peach) Leaf Extract, Ceramide NP, Propanediol, Butylene Glycol, Tocopherol, Tremella Fuciformis Polysaccharide, Aqua/Water/Eau, Citronellol, Geraniol, Farnesol, Limonene, Linalool, Ethylhexylglycerin, Phenoxyethanol.
any idea how they are accomplishing this?

alcohol, now i will definitely experiment with that as a spearate ingredient when using other emulsifiers. -

Personally i rather enjoy hearing people’s subjective opinions on things, I mean that’s what half of this forum is about, isn’t it? And i’ve learned quite a lot here from exactly these types of discussions.

-
Ahh yes and i see the EHG now, missed that before.
Packaging is a tube.good point about preservatives being hidden in extracts…”incidental ingredients”
Even if it passed testing i wonder why they didnt just drop the ph just in case…maybe the polymer is most effective at neutral ph.

MemberDecember 29, 2022 at 10:57 am in reply to: Emollients that are solvents in relation to very sensitive skin.Could you expand on your thoughts on Isononyl Isononanoate and isostearyl isostearate?
is Isononyl Isononanoate one that you would put in the disgusting category?
What were the pros/cons of these two and which applications do you think they’d be best suited for?
And what did you like so much about D5?
I am happy with c12-15 but i like experimenting…
-
But im having another look and they say the same thing about cetearyl as well!
-
Oh ok, i see. Thanks. It’s strange though because makingcosmetics claims their cetyl alcohol will IMPROVE foaming when used with surfactants.
-
In this came i am actually formulating a cleanser, and i dont have a soaping problem - i am just trying to maximize my foam from the surfactants. So will replacing cetearyl with cetyl help produce more foam? I think that is what matt is saying, but correct me if im wrong here please.
-
Ahhh ok thanks i will try switching it for cetyl instead
-
this structured stuff is intriguing to me but also very mysterious. So you are saying that when you suspend the oils they do not suppress foam like they normally would? That sounds like something i’d like to try, surfactants combined with oils and tons of foam?!? sounds amazing. where does one get started with making formulas like this? And what exactly is patented about this, is it the particular surfactant that is used?

MemberDecember 26, 2022 at 3:14 am in reply to: What makes this formula so moisturizing?I have been trying formulate a similar product to this but with SCI and CAPB instead. I get close but not quite as good as this one. I use a lot of glycerin too and oleate.
I did notice that there seems to potentially be a larger amount of hexandeiol than i am used to seeing, i wonder if that could have anything to do with it.
-
@Graillotion i cant help you with this question you have here, but i just want to say that the level of detail and obsession you have for your deo ingredients makes me feel like when you are finally finished with it, if that day ever comes, there’s no way it does not
turn out as the world’s best deodorant, hands down. -

MemberDecember 16, 2022 at 7:29 pm in reply to: Preserving fragrance smell in surfactant systems@ketchito the browning only occurs with the addition if tocopherol. Tinogard TL seems like a great ingredient but I am small time and cant order things like that in bulk.
@chemicalmatt yes, and you know i use 9010 at 1%, would that provide enough ethylhexylglycerin to do the job? I also have TEC, i can try that as well.
thanks!

MemberDecember 16, 2022 at 3:13 am in reply to: Preserving fragrance smell in surfactant systemsIn this particular case i am using synthetic fragrance, but there are times i use EO’s.
And I am solubilizing the fragrance oil into polysorbate 80 and dropping that into the body wash right before the preservative.
