@em88 may the purity of your IPA and Ethanol are fake that’s why you could do it ?
I also try it below 70% IPA approximately 60% end with precipitation. If the purity of your product are right that leads to say Lubrizol data are fake? really I don’t think soo…
What do you think @Perry @Gunther @Pharma @lmosca @Chemist77 @Cafe33 @ngarayeva001 -
@yash42440 actually your formulation seems acceptable may I guess that the problem is from the quality of your ingredients.
-
@hrajan actually with TEA you will not able to reach more then 60% IPA, take a look for that. https://chemistscorner.com/cosmeticsciencetalk/uploads/editor/gn/0fbgsjljgbf9.png

@Doreen actually the most important thing is to know information between the concentration of hydrogen peroxide and needed contact time even for surface. But i really want to have hand sanitizer based on hydrogen peroxide.
@chemicalmatt thanks for share so do you think that 1,5 % hydrogen peroxide can be used for hand desinfection and what is the needed time contact for such concentration? -
@Doreen thanks for the link, however i’am looking for product where hydrogen peroxide is the active ingredient without using any other active ingredient as alcohol in the proposed formula.

@MarkBroussard thanks for your reply however have you any reference that proves 60% Ethanol is effective for Sars_covid 2?

MemberApril 19, 2020 at 11:14 pm in reply to: Can Ethanol 80 % be effective for Coronavirus?@MarkBroussard So according to you 60%_70% Ethanol will be better then 80%?!
@Perry thanks for your add. -
@Pharma I already read all about Sanitiser here and my question about the effectiveness of Sanitiser for coronavirus without both of glycerin and hydrogen peroxide never talked in forum.
I know that the only active ingredient in WHO sanitizer formulation is Alcohol however glycerin can be must have in WHO formulation cause it limits the evaporation of alcohol so may without glycerin alcohol will evaporate quickly and will not stay the needed contact time. (that is my scare about Sanitiser without glycerin) -

MemberApril 4, 2020 at 10:08 pm in reply to: Dettol and thymol are effective for Covid_19!!!@lmosca not really as you said, I see Dettol Antiseptic liquid in link from UK website and it is based on chloroxylenol 4,8%.
-
@lmosca very intelligent view about which product of Dettol the site meant?
The most logic and reliable product about question the one you said, however I made reaserachement to discover all products of Dettol that can be effective for Covid_19 so the answer is found in UK Dettol website which said four other products of Dettol differents from Dettol brand hand sanitizer
Also in the site the active ingredient for Dettol’s product is chloroxylenol so as conclusion desired product is not Dettol brand hand sanitizer. -
@lmosca interesting comment, however Dettol is found in list of approved hand sanitizers according to the site government of Canada https://www.canada.ca/en/health-canada/services/drugs-health-products/disinfectants/covid-19/hand-sanitizer.html#tbl1.
So according to you this site is not a reliable reference?Just recently I readed even Singaporean government approved Dettol as effective active ingredient for Covid_19.
About hydrogen peroxide which concentration is recommended (I see very different proposed level) and what is the needed contact time?
-
No @Pharma Dettol is found in List of approved hand sanitizers. Thymol with low level is also safe for the skin as I guess.
-
Very interesting @lmosca can I know your University? actually i look forward to learning pharmaceutical chemistry sciences.
I’am process chemical engineer and i’am fun of aromatherapy and pharmaceutical sciences so I think it will be amaizing to have pharmaceutical course in my case. -
@Cafe33 really interesting link appriciate a lot your share but the table miss one important thing which is needed contact time.
@Pharma for sure scientifics don’t search for product which make a lot of pain. The product must have short needed time of contact ( seconds to few minutes it will be better just 1 minute which is a looked for one ) and also no or low irritant product for skin.
What about 3% hydrogen peroxide product I readed that it is effective for Coronavirus and it needs short needed time contact, any add about that? -
@em88 actually increasing percentage of alcohol will make product more effective and for Coronavirus WHO says that product contains 80% Ethanol or 75% IPA.
