MemberJanuary 4, 2019 at 8:26 am in reply to: Disposable Pippets or Borosilicate glass pippets?Yes I am sure there are many ways to store glass beakers etc. I worked in a lab once and we were using GCMS at very small levels (ng & pg). So after the alcohol we put Aluminium foil over the top and then stored them. Even then the blanks still had contamination in them.Has anyone else had to do this, or maybe there are different ways to store glass now? -

MemberJanuary 3, 2019 at 10:05 am in reply to: Disposable Pippets or Borosilicate glass pippets?OK so to be more specific use hot bio-degradable detergent to remove residues, then rinsed using sterile water, followed by disinfection with a 200ppm chlorine solution. Then air dry and store. Before using ANY glass equipment it is best to spray with ethanol or isopropanol, including the contact surfaces. And yes alcohol is a disinfection/sanitation not sterilization.Have you ever tried sonication? -

MemberJanuary 2, 2019 at 1:32 pm in reply to: Disposable Pippets or Borosilicate glass pippets? You can re-use glass pipettes but you must steep them in hot soapy water, then ethanol to sterilize. Sounds like a lot but I do it all the time you just need to get used to that way of thinking. You can get glass Pasteur pipettes from Chase Instruments in a 250 box. They will last you a long time and make you feel better. Hope this helps -

Yes honey dissolves in water and if your lucky you may end up making mead! but it also becomes food for yeasts and microbes. Honey on its own is full of phenolics etc which I believe keep it preserved in its natural state.Maybe add the raw honey at the end of the formulation when the last phase has cooled to the same as the honey temp. Then mix is through?

I would just concentrate on the formula & how it is behaving first. This way you can pick out the ingredients that are doing something or on trend. Also the costs of making it, stability, preservative
I start back work tomorrow so no Xmas for me LOL.. its never ending!!
BEST Dr Catherine Prattps if you go straight to a manufacturer they will own the formula & if you have any disputes or just want to get away from them and Choose another one, they have the rights to own it & you will have to buy it back of them in the vicinity of. A $5000 or more.
luckily Dr Pratt’s does not get into that ok once we finish everything and you are happy with it, then you can take the formula to the manufacturer and make sure they they use the formula properly. -

MemberDecember 25, 2018 at 9:26 am in reply to: Need help with solubulising a perfumeCan you make a small sample without the fragrance and if there is no itch, then maybe you could double the formula as it would be a concentration problem. Also find the pH. Or if the fragrance is not solubilising then it will pour straight onto your skin (Ouch). I cannot see your solubilser in the list?

Add Tea Tree Oil, it seems to be the cure all!

There will be no colour.Or you can buy vanilla infused oils quite cheaply with a stunning odour and no colour. Hope this helps -
