Thank you for all your suggestions. The dentist said to me he does not like the foam because you need to see the teeth becoming clean when you are brushing them and you can see what bits you are missing. When its really foamy you can’t? -

MemberFebruary 15, 2019 at 9:44 pm in reply to: Shampoo without surfactants? What do you think of this formula:I need to find a ‘natural’ surfactant’ that foams even a tiny bit. I have tried so far:
sarcosinate, amphoacetate, which are supposed to be better than anything else besides the sulfates. Really because if the amount of salt in the formula it is not going to foam. Any ideas? -

Ok if you want to go organic you may as well try Leucidal & AMP-cide. It is a double preservative. Leucidal is a fermented plant and the other is derived from coconuts. Try this link Hope this helps.

MemberFebruary 9, 2019 at 1:58 pm in reply to: Gentle hydrating body wash glycerinMaybe you could try Sodium Lauryl Sarcosinate? some say it is the second best to SLS. They are from two totally different sources. Sarcosinate is derived from coconuts. I use it but nothing works as good as SLS. Oh well that is the pay off. Hope this helps.

What type are you looking for? Natural or organic?

Hi there did you say 30% preservative ? With the vanilla/almond smell. I believe it may be 3 to 4 % you use. Also 5% EO should be enough to block the almond odour. Or you could use Vanilla & coconut or lime which may mix nicely with the scent.

MemberFebruary 8, 2019 at 12:32 pm in reply to: Please help with fragrance fixation in my productsThe reason you may not have any scent with the body oil is that you need some time for the fragrance to infuse through the oil especially if you are using whole plant oils. Stirring the solution once in a while is good too and even adding a tiny amount of heat or sitting it near with sunshine for a couple of hours may do the trick.Don’t use synthetics if you don’t want to, you can have a strong scent if you give it some time. Leave the ethanol for spray parfums. What type of container are you using? I use schott bottles that are glass with a tight lid and I even shake it now and again.Hope this helps.. -

Mmm an interesting one @Christopher. If you are ever trying to work out where an ingredient could come from and what it is have a look at the last part of the name indicating that it could come from a root i.e. glycyrrhizate or glycyr- rhizate meaning root. If you have done biology at least that will give you a clue. It is a good multi-functional ingredient.@Belassi yes I agree, if your re-using it on your lips that continually have microbe colonies festering on, in and around. Just licking your lips could start up a bacterial party that could last for weeks. Surely there should be some merit to use a preservative?Any thoughts?
