A lot of alcohol in a shampoo will cut down foaming.

The alcohol is either a typo or a lie.  No reason for it to be in there.  The only thing I can think of is one of the conditioning agents has alcohol in the INCI name too.  Something like the behentrimonium products.

For 10 gallons of product, manufactured and filled, of a formula to your specifications you are looking at an expensive proposition.  Do you have your formulas already?  From what your wrote it suggests that you have formulations and may just need fragrance and colors added.  If so, I would be willing to quote you on any amount of units you want to order.

If you do not have your formulations already you can talk to Mark, Bob, Perry or any of the other fine chemists on here to develop for you.  However, with over 13 different products you mentioned I hope you have financing in place to pay for all the development.

By the way, we have tons of experience with pet products too.

If you are interested send me your contact information and I will get in touch next week.

@bobzchemist You are correct.  Many mid sized manufacturers such as us can’t afford to pay $80,000 a year for a chemist.  In the South where I am there are many chemists who will work a day or 2 for one company and then the other days at another.

I agree with Bob about Jeen International products.  You just toss them in and mix.  No heat needed.

Cookie, I think you are going to find on this site mostly consulting chemists who are will to work from their location.  However, you never know.  As a manufacturer myself I also find it difficult to find in-house chemists at a fair wage.  I find no problems with using consultants on a project basis as needed for those time when I myself have problems with development.  There are some consultants on here who will work with you at a fair and affordable price.  Best of luck.

Are you looking for places online to buy chemicals or looking for places online to see where you can call to buy chemicals, like buyers guides?

If you want to buy small amounts online Google:
    Lotioncrafters
    makingcosmetics.com
    chemistrystore.com

Look into incorporating PEG 400 into whatever formula you are playing with.  10% to 20%

I am not certain what you need to import it but as far as selling, as long as your packaging conforms to FDA standards you pretty much don’t need anything.

Basically you are asking people here who may make their living developing formulas to give you the best depilatory on the market for free.  This is afar different from asking for help with a problem formulation.  I would suggest contacting some of the great chemists you have on this board and pay them for their services.

Are you looking to develop a base or do you have one you want to just add the CHG to?  I have worked with CHG in pet products before.  I only get on the forum once a week or so lately so if you need help, send me a message.

  • Wow, I don’t charge nearly enough I guess.  @mikebavington If you need help in manufacturing/bottling get in touch with me.  4 years and $25,000 ??  We should have met 3 3/4 years ago and your product would have been on the shelf 4 months later.

EGMS or EGMS-SE should do the trick.  Try 1%

Matt, you would be surprised at what high % people want acids in facial peels these days.

@perry  I do a lot of work with DHA.  Not really interested in the formulating end if we can’t manufacture for them too.

I don’t have an answer for you but it just so happens I am trying to develop a mask for a customer now.  It has Kaolin and bentonite.  Not sure what the final percentage of each will be.  Trying to duplicate one that as it dries the color turns white and you feel tightening on the skin.

Barnet Products sells a stabilized form of vitamin C but I think it is oil soluble.  They refer to it as BV-OSC and it is Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate, CAS #: 183476-82-6
