I never had to dissolve it, just add it and stir. What kind of agitation are you using?.

Bad INCI. Tocopherol (Vitamin E) Oil is incorrect. So probably they are using something like this.

The white powder is most likely salt. It
    shouldn’t happen at all.

Wait, are you mixing pure LAS with pure NaOH?.

Soaps are bad shampoos. There is plenty of documentation about it.

    No, it’s not.

Probably the only material above 1% is water.

Some value,  perhaps. Although keeping samples of every batch for so long is counterproductive and excessive. The legisation should contemplate the different production levels and company structures and it doesn’t.

I have lost faith in updates or modifications. I think this will come with new methods of preservation. If something like gamma radiation becomes accessible and standard will force a change in protocols. Untill then, we are stuck. Or the day multinational companies consider the old ways doesn’t suit their interests and start lobbying for alternatives, perhaps.

Also, the “natural” trend and manufacturing process like what we saw in the lush video doesn’t help the case.

What protocols would you change if you had the chance?.

Questioned how?. That you can use 100?.  Of course, they wouldn’t have to change the filters and the UV lamps so often.

Keep your standards as high as you can, that’s my opinion.

Here is an interesting presentation by a forum member. I remember Polysugamulse D9 had great members reviews.

You can google for ecocert/cosmos approved materials like this, or ask your suppliers what they have to offer. Keep in mind it will be reflected on the price.

@jeremien yes, SLES will also get gummy at low temp. Specially the natural type.

@Gunther that’s why is usually sold at 25%, it remains liquid. If you are buying higher concentration, if the supplier doesn’t give you the COA is usually watered down.

Forget it, ethanol won’t work. Use a regular one.

That will depend on the surfactant.

@Sibech I’d say the lack of fire extinguishers is the most important thing I noticed. (by the size there should be at least 3 or 4 visible and inspectors would still bitch about it) Or at least they are not signaled, which is another thing an inspector will bitch about.

The flammable stuff piled on the floor deserves a chapter on its own.

WTF??? I guess this is some sort of DIY tour like in chocolate factories, I doubt the production is as amateur as it shows, but still I wouldn’t show a rusty and filthy shelf with pride.

I guess deep pockets and good contacts get you this far.

Ethanol is hardly the most effective and you would need a high amount to notice a decent result. Regular AFs are used at 50-200ppm.

A little late, but on topic: @Chemist77 I take you were using a silicone based emulsion. I talked to dow corning people a few months ago and there aren’t any good news, turbidity comes with the package and there’s no significant improvement or breakthrough ahead =(

For transparency try glycolic based antifoam. The cons are x2 price and x2 dosage.

It IS an emulsion. Think of you hair conditioners, what would happen if you remove the surfactant?.

You would have to ask croda, perhaps if you mail R&D they answer. They do perform differently, those 2 carbons make a huge difference. Cetearyl is used to avoid recrystallization (being 16 and 18 they don’t align the same). Perhaps the microstructure with BTMS shows no significant difference.

First stage. Better homogenization with less torque, and to prevent air bubbles.

Self emulsifying waxes are a blend of a fatty alcohol and a surfactant. The result is usually a solid, for example BTMS is an ewax. It becomes pasty even at low percentage. Considering you are using 4% of each the result will be creamy on cool down. The reticulate formed by the cetyl alcohol + CTAC is what holds the rest of the ingredients. You do have an important quantity of oils, the GMS SE wouldn’t hold by itself.

It’s how an ewax is made. Cetyl + surfactant, in this case the CTAC.

No you cant, shampoo isn’t soap.

I suggest you investigate and learn more before attempting a shampoo formula.

I don’t think is realistic to find such information for free. It’s the core of marketing business, and marketers pay lots of money to polling companies to have those numbers.

Also keep in mind you didn’t even share the contient you are at.

The concentration of 1,4-dioxane present in most of PEGs is really low. 2-5ppm, being 30 the max allowed. Considering the % of PEG you will use in a formula the amount of impurities is hardly a concern, how much could penetrate?. But fear beats logic every time.
