I would add the finish touch here either with Sepigel 305 or DC 2051 Thickener. The slip, the feel, the cushion-y rub in, everything seems perfect.
PS: Talking of quirks, avoid cationics and electrolytes.

@pma Thanks for your suggestion but I suppose Bobzchemist mentioned me some PCPC source and I found a good one, Kewpie.

@Ruben Great article that, a clarification of widely accepted misconception.

@CosChemFan Actually I am doing something on the similar lines and so I know that it does foam and foams good, although I agree with you that that the common perception would be less foam. But with those two surfactants in the LOI and in good quantities it is quite possible to get good foaming.

Thanks everyone for your great inputs. @Belassi you r always bang on money with a great humor .
@Bobzchemist I would definitely look into it, thanks again.
Shall definitely post the results once I am done.

@Belassi Thanks a lot for your suggestions, I am definitely going to adopt them though just wanted to know the reason of sulphur not going with florals but with herbals. Is it the strong herbal notes that you are referring to or chemical incompatibility of florals???

@galina Thank you so much for this feedback, I was planning to incorporate it in few products to replace carbomer and other thickeners, you made my work easy. But I would still try it in other products just for a comparison.

Well that’s quite possible since it seems to be a hot mix shampoo and let’s say it’s more of an emulsion in a shampoo bottle with all the properties of a good shampoo.

Guess the first thing is very high pH (I have made and tested Moroccan soap though) and secondly it would form insoluble salts with hard water ions which would markedly reduce the cleaning efficacy of the soap.

Last but not the least the dark lumpy structure is a big turn off to start with

@Perry If I am not mistaken I had taken up this issue with you few months back, I agree with @Iaskedbetter that we are here to advise on a current effort but we cannot initiate an effort for others. Let us all try to keep it a discussion board and as@Bobzchemist always mentions that there is Google for all the human needs   :)

    cheers

I use same combo of acid/bicarbonate with some starch as binder and a powdered surfactant, it dissolves in a jiffy. Even effervescence is noticeable, though I wouldn’t say it is of the highest quality.

@Belassi have you tried this one, @gangarani I just had the opportunity of using PEG-150 Distearate but as it has been pointed out here the vitals of the formula are not satisfactory. As Belassi said in many of his posts Glucamate VLT works, but what to do with cost then?????

But a great suggestion though @gangarani.

The main contention is the viscosity, is there something that really helps which doesn’t bother the aesthetics of the formula. I have tried few external thickeners but no, not really satisfied what with all that slimy feel and persistent aeration.

Try DC Elastomer 7040 with little dimethicone and cyclomethicone the water phase will have water, glycerin and sodium chloride add slowly try to match the refrective indices of both phases and voila a clear silicone gel emulsion

@Belassi yup no salt nothing sometimes it’s so frustrating nd then few customers want clear sulfate free I mean double whammy

Yup try propylene glycol and little surfactants. Does help a lot as I was able to keep it clear nd solubilized.

That you are absolutely right, they position the products as per the market but I am thinking why they wouldn’t sell TT in your market??? Bowls me completely, check ulprospector too, they have same concept is selectivity.
I think I too would give a shot at konjac root powder.

@Belassi Thanks for the feedback, it really helps to adopt/eliminate certain raw materials. Maybe @MarkBroussard could chip in with his view on using this Konjac root powder in sulfate free shampoo as thickener.

Hello @Belassi were you able to achieve something out of those suggestions, I am wondering if even 1% can hold it good in an all liquid surfactants formula, what are the odds of getting a separation or crystallization of CMEA at room temperature. Why wouldn’t you prefer to use PEG-150 Distearate, I mean can’t we modify the short flow issue with the optimization of our choice of surfactants?????

@Bobzchemist Absolutely agree with you as I have seen in our lab where it takes years to develop that special ‘color eye’.

With so much positivity about konjac I would like to ask the cost implications too as some markets are pretty sensitive about it.

Check the pH too, I am supposing that they have used Ecosmooth 100 which needs to be activated at around pH 4 and as @Perry said that the other ingredients too are contributing. Guar Hydroxypropyltrimoniun Chloride is Ecosmooth 100 and is used in many shampoo formulations too, good compatibility with anionic based shampoos too.

  • @Bill_Toge Absolutely agree with you, I also read this article but since it was DM I thought it better to ignore.
