And the other metals? Iron for instance?

Might be Kerabead. Or could be shea butter beads.

“Hello? Dripfit? Can I talk to someone about product safety? You see, my little girl poured all my Dripfit cream into the sink. And the sink is now clogged with all these little beads. What are they? Will they eventually dissolve?” -
Well, maybe. It would be better to make a second batch of equal size but with the mistakes reversed, then mix the two.

I assume it is not exposed to the air after preparation? Cool down in the final container?

How can we possibly answer your question? You have provided no information. You need to post the formula and in particular the handling and storage. Meanwhile, here is a way of mixing lots of pomade:

This is not the way to ask for help.
You should put the formula with percentages and describe the problem you have and what you have done so far to try to fix it. We are not telepathic here… -
If one or more of these mildness methods can be accurate I’d like to adopt it as an alternative to letting the shampoo run into my eyes…

You may find it a bit aggressive. This can rapidly fill any holes left in the face. I recommend using 400 grade wet-or-dry for final smoothing.

MemberJanuary 10, 2019 at 6:29 pm in reply to: Is it possible to mix a silicone base with HA ?Why is D5 restricted in Europe?
D4 and D5 are respectively identified by the Agency’s Risk Assessment Committee as a persistent, bioaccumulative and toxic (PBT) substance and a very persistent and very bioaccumulative (vPvB) substance under the criteria in Annex XVIII to Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006, which may give rise to environmental concern when cosmetic products containing D4 or D5 are disposed with water. Also, considering that D4 and D5 evaporate over time after application; while the environmental risk in these products has not been assessed, the Commission addresses the risks by setting a restriction limit on intended usage of D4 and D5 in wash-off cosmetic products only.D4 and D5 are restricted with a maximum concentration not exceeding 0.1% by weight of either substance in wash-off cosmetic products. The new restriction applies from February 1, 2020.

Secondly, according to a report on foaming, (Floratech), A cylinder foam evaluation test was performed to determine foam formation and retention. A concentration of 1.0% test article and 99.0% deionized water was used to create the body wash solution. For this test, 50ml of body wash solution was poured into a 250ml graduated cylinder. The cylinder was covered and inverted 10 times. The test produced foam volume of approximately 190ml. A good body wash/shampoo should have a foam volume of 100ml or more in the cylinder foam evaluation test. Bubbles should be small. Generally, the smaller the bubbles, the longer the foam will persist. Foam retention should remain stable for at least 5 minutes.
- I tried this with three of our products all of which have been popular. One is the coffee shampoo, another the tea tree shampoo, both based on Stepan APB; and the third is a sulphate-free shampoo from Akypo RLM-45, CAPB and sodium cocoamphoacetate. All three work fine in real conditions but I could only get a foam volume of 60mL not 100mL from all three. (Foam height was 100mL but am subtracting the remaining test solution of 40mL)
I don’t understand this as in practice the foam is more than adequate. -
I agree, 1% parabens is far too much and the ratio of methyl:propyl is way off.
-
I did an experiment to see if it is true that glycerin reduces foam in a shampoo. I made identical shampoos, except one contained 3% glycerin. There was no difference in foam profile.

MemberJanuary 10, 2019 at 5:19 am in reply to: Is it possible to mix a silicone base with HA ?You cannot combine D5 (by the way D5 is a restricted product in Europe) and those other silicones and any water based medium. It will separate immediately. You will need an emulsifier system in there. An alternative would be to use a water-dispersible silicone ester.

Use one of the many online books, it is far too much to relate here.
