MemberSeptember 20, 2016 at 8:08 pm in reply to: How can I lower the PH in cold processed soap?Just to say one thing: I wasted 6 months of my time trying to lower the pH of natural soap, before I realised that I was trying to achieve the impossible.

MemberSeptember 19, 2016 at 9:25 pm in reply to: How can I lower the PH in cold processed soap? Why don’t you want to use synthetics? It just is not possible to use cold process soap at the pH you desire. Or you can waste the next 6 months and a lot of material proving that… There are many, many synthetics with properties that make saponified soap look primitive. I make cold process soap but I leave it in the state it was intended. When I want performance at a desired pH, I use synthetics.

What about soap people who neutralise liquid soap with it? Is that safe?

@Sherman_01 you need to start a new thread.
But basically, unrefined beeswax just lies about the lab all day in a vulgar sort of way. . . -
Generally, no.

Yes I tried it. It was “OK” but not as good as my formulation.

Highly amusing! I was just putting some peyote balm on my foot this morning. I rather doubt that there’s much peyote in it.

I tried the Iselux and it does indeed need a high foaming supplement. My existing formulation is high foam and less expensive so I didn’t continue with Iselux. And … it’s from Innospec so, unless you will be buying 55 pound pails?

I believe the sensorials are the main thing to get right. The foam volume and density, the flow, the fragrance. I make a premium shampoo so I make it more concentrated than the average, that way the customer soon realises they need to use less, so conferring a ‘better value’ effect.

Just marketing hype. No effect at all. Hair is a dead substance. The only things that affect it are those that increase its moisture content and those that are film-formers. (Apart from straightening and/or colouring systems of course)

The first thing to do is list the ingredients in % weight order because I for one am not going to sit here and calculate them all for you.

We have found no discernible difference between sulphate-free and ‘normal’ shampoo regarding colour protection.

I suggest you pay a close eye to publications of auctions etc. -
boric acid is a carcinogen?

The rose water probably contains phenethyl alcohol as has been pointed out here before now.

Well, you’re going to have to do what the rest of us do, experiment.

Thank goodness.
