@yes blends are better but my question was is there any rule to not use two preservative to there maximum when we blend them?
For example: in Euxyl®
k700 which is: Phenoxyethanol 30%, benzyl alcohol 30%, potassium sorbate 15%, tocopherol 15%,
water 15%. The maximum allowed is %1.5, that becomes %0.45 benzyl alcohol and %0.45 phenoxyethanol. -

@nikolatesla23 yes that is good and easy But it will save a lot of time if some one knows the minimum amount of SLES that is needed to be thickened.
Because i want SLES be there just to thicken the product, other surfactants for foam and cleaning. -
@chemicalmatt thanks for advice.
I thought AOS would be milder.What about Sodium lauryl methyl Isethionate and sodium cocoyl isethionate?
-
@Belassi thanks for advice
I Want to purchase sodium c14-16 olefin sulfonate but MOQ is 25kg.
Any idea about that and how is it compared to SLES? -
@letsalcido yes it has SLES right now bought we are working on new formulas to eliminate or replace SLES.
Current formula is
SLES - %6 active
CAPB - %3 active
Lauryl Glucoside - 3 active
Total %12 active surfactant.I myself have allergy to SLES even if %1 in product so may be other people are allergic too.
Also want to try sodium c14-16 olefin sulfonate but haven’t purchased or used yet. Any idea about that surfactant?
-
@Belassi we only have inline homogenizer which is high shear. So for large batches we have to use that
-
@Perry in Shampoo, should reduce the % of active surfactant when we add cocamide DEA or should add it on top of active surfactants?
Surfactants are
%10 active CAPB
%2.5 active lauryl glucoside
Total%12 active surfactant -
@Belassi thanks
Is that increase in viscosity because of that surfactant or because of the salt in it? -
@Perry thanks
I mean from amphoteric surfactants which one Increases the viscosity? -
%20 active surfactant of Glucoside is very drying for hair as my experience.
I would purchase some cocamide MEA and see what it does.
Will cocamide methyl MEA be the same as cocamide MEA as it is liquid and easier to use?
-
@Perry thanks
Yeah it is hard to beat SLS or get near that with this formula. But consumers demand sulfate free and other than Glucoside and CAPB all other anionic surfactants are very expensive.
So how can we enhance and stabilize the foam of Glucoside/CAPB in an inexpensive way? -
@MarkBroussard thanks
Cocamide MIPA is not available here.
Cocamide DEA, Cocamide MEA, Cocamide methyl MEA, Lauramine Oxide is available. Which one is better to use?Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate is very expensive. If we add in high quantity cost will increase a lot. If we add in small quantity how would foam compare to above surfactants?
-
@klangridge thanks
I use Stearamidopropyl Dimethylamine %1. How does it effect foam?
Don’t have vegetable oil but %0.5 glyceryl oleate and %0.3 sweet orange essential oil. What to add instead of fragrance oil to give it smell but not reduce foam?
I will increase the active surfactant to %12 and see.
They are all as active surfactant. It is %10 CAPB which is %3 active
