  • Who buys all the shea butter……….

You know the old saying….Curiosity killed the cat

Well…. my mind is never idle. I was curious if anyone knew an off the wall stat. I was curious to whom buys the world supply of shea butter? I know many big brands present it on the marketing/label….but am guessing a lot of that is used at very small amounts. Does the big boyz frequent use of tiny amounts…far exceed the beginner/small brand market?

If we divide industry into beginners and small brands….vs big boyz….who buys more shea?

    Thank you for your consideration.

Not a direct answer to your question, but I was contacted by a significant African producer of Shea Butter. They wanted me to assist them in value-adding their Shea Butter, which I did. And this added significant value to what they were producing and really turned this company around financially.

So, a lot of these producers are using their own Shea Butter in various ways.

Body Shop has just gone under in the UK and the news on that reported it would impact $300 million worth of shea butter from Fairtrade producers. FYI.

I guess…. then the question to be asked…is what is the value of the overall shea market?

These Fairtrade producers need to broaden their supply……should have been in place well before the crash of Body Shop.

    According to this: https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/shea-butter-market-size-statistics-comprehensive-outlook-sxfef/
The shea butter market is experiencing growth driven by several key factors: a rising demand for natural and organic skincare products, with shea butter’s natural benefits drawing health-conscious consumers; its expanding use across various cosmetic products; increased consumer awareness and market accessibility; the positive socio-economic impact on African communities involved in its production, appealing to ethically minded consumers; and technological advancements in extraction and processing that enhance its quality and appeal. These elements collectively contribute to the broader adoption and market success of shea butter.
