    Hello! I wanted to comment that I am currently trying to make a water based pomade- gel but I do not know where I should be failing since the ointment does not get to harden but rather remains like a liquid a little thick. If I leave it in the fridge in a couple of hours it hardens quite a bit but as soon as I take it out of the cold it becomes a liquid. Nor is the waiting time until it hardens. The discharge was made at 80ºC and the place where I live is usually about 25ºC.
    This is a test recipe with which I start to experiment, any suggestions? Thanks in advance!!

    Water 64%
    Ceteareth 25 15%
    Glycerin 6.5%
    Propylene Glycol 4%
    Peg-7 Glyceryl cocoate 3.5%
    Pvp K30 3%
    Peg-40 Hydrogenated castor oil 2%
    Polysorbate 80 1%

    increase your ceteareth-25; this will raise the set point and make the product harder

    it may make it difficult to mix, in which case you’ll have to increase your PEG-7 glyceryl cocoate as well

    I was able to get the same with Ceteareth-20, removed that PEG-& Glyceryl Cocoate and without any resin. As Bill said you need to jack up the dosage of Ceteareth-25, FYI I used almost 15% of same humectants combined. But to increase the melting point or the lets the formula strength I have used PEG-8 Beeswax. The problem is slight haziness but I am sure with right quantities it can be optimized. I chucked out those 2 solubilizers, instead I used Tween 20. So far it looks good and clear to me. Need to test it at 45C now to monitor the clarity and hardness. 
    @Bill_Toge Bill do you think it is going to make a big difference if I substitute C-20 with c-25, as the latter has a higher mp of around 49C while c-20 has around 45C.

    Unfortunately some materials such as ceteareth 20, pvp k90 are impossible to get … I have adjusted as Bill says ceteareth 25 and peg-7 glyceryl cocoate and seems thicker as I am looking, Now, once mixed phases as Should I let it cool? At room temperature or in the fridge? Thank you very much in advance!

    Given a chance I would use c-25 only, that was just a piece of information about c-20. Stick to what Bill has suggested, it would work out. I just put my lab sample in cold water of around 3-4C and it sets nicely. C-25 will probably work better as it has a higher melting point compared to c-20.

    Than for your answers! I increased the ceteareth-25 along with the Peg-7 glyceryl cocoate and lower the glycerin a little, after being about 7 or 8 hours in the refrigerator the result was very similar to that of commercial products but again after spending about 10 minutes at ambient temperature became a little thick liquid. Heat the water and oil phase to about 80ºC and allow to cool to about 40-45ºC to mix. Where should i rectify? This is the rectified recipe:

    Water 59%
    ceteareth-25 20%
    Peg-7 Glyceryl cocoate 10%
    Propylene glycol 4%
    Glycerin 3%
    Peg-40 Hydrogenated castor oil 2%
    Pvp K30 1,5%
    Polysorbate 80 0,5%

    try cutting the water back 20 - 30%

    Try to bring C-25 to 25%, cut down PEG-1 Glyceryl Cocoate to 5%, go up to 15% with glycerin & PG (7 & 8% resp.), eliminate the bottom 3 components. Once you have the solid set in formula, play with the last 3 through knock out trials. I have a perfect formula and I just spelled it for you. I just use Tween 20 upto 2% instead of those PEG-40 HCO & Polysorbate 80.

    same goes for me, how long does the pomade cool down into solid state? since i decided not to put it in the fridge
