Hi, I am interested in attending a conference to learn more about skincare chemistry and network with skincare chemists, skincare manufacturers, and possibly even packaging manufacturers and other related vendors. What are some of the best skincare industry conferences/meetings/forums to attend? (International or USA).

I am still very new to this industry so I’ve only been able to go to one- the SCC Supplier’s Day in NYC. It’s very supplier heavy obviously, but that can be a good way to find new material sources. There were booths for mixing equipment and packaging though they were few and far between. Not really as many chemists/ cosmetic manufacturers as I’ve heard there were previous years though.

My favorite part is that before the show begins there are several course offerings (Continuing Education Courses). Topics depend on the presenter, I took one on Lipids and it was hugely informative. Perry was also giving one at the same time but I was too shy to stop in.

I’ll second that suggestion. Attend both days of NYSCC Supplier’s Day(s) and pay attention closely. You will learn a lot. InCosmetics (EU) will be even better.

I’d also add the Society of Cosmetic Chemist year end meeting in New York. They usually have some good scientific talks on skin care.

If you are International you might check out the IFSCC conference. This year it is in Japan. Next year it will be in Mexico I believe and then the UK after that.

I have only been at one - Incosmetics Global and it’s very supplier heavy as you said. But the great thing about it is that you see trends and notice new/ smaller suppliers. Smaller suppliers are more friendly and some of them are willing to sell small quantities. This alone makes it worth it for me.
