    Hi all,
I am trying to formulate this cream base.

    Sorbitan Stearate  1.37
    Polysorbate 80      3.63
    Stearic Acid           5
    IPM                        4
    Glycerin                 2
    D-panthenol          2
    Aloe Vera gel extract  2
    Soybean oil              1
    Dimethicone            1
    Menthol                     0.05
    Phenoxyethanol        0.5
    Frangrance               0.05
    Water                    77.5
    My question are
    1. I use Stearic acid up to 5% but I am getting a lotion not a cream. I don’t have this problem with cetyl alcohol at 5%.  Am I missing anything?
    2. is the formula well constructed in your opinion?

    thanks

Yes, you need to add either NaOH or KOH to bring the pH up to neutralize the Stearic Acid for it to thicken.
