Saponins - toxicity
The topic of my Diploma concerns the use of saponins in cosmetics. For my lab tests I’m going to purchase saponins from Quillaja Bark. But now I’m thinking about their potential toxicity for skin - in case of outer application.
If they are toxic - so it doesn’t make any sense to investigate their possible advantages in cosmetic products. Unfortunately I can only find some reports about toxicity of saponins given intravenously.
What could you advice me in such situation? Any information resource? Thanks! -

Leave-on could be a problem. Saponins are surfactants. Surfactants and skin don’t always play nicely together.
