Preservative smell
Hi Guys,
Most of the products I formulate are fragrance free and contains a preservative. The company purchases Euxyl 9010 (Phenoxyethanol & Ethylhexylglycerin) in extremely large quantities so I have been stuck to using this at a 1% concentration.
During a recent trial for a formulation of a face cream, the end product had a really bad smell. I am attributing this to the preservative. I assumed that it would subside after a while on application but it persisted. It makes the cream really undesirable.
Any advice on how to remediate this? Considering adding a fragrance, something with neroli? Any alternative preservatives that I should look into?
Thanks so much.
